Team Tasks

This page is a collection of basic tasks the Community Team works on regularly.

DC/OS Releases

The release team at Mesosphere generates a series of JIRA sub-tickets that are assigned to specific people. One goes to the community manager who is responsible for handling release tasks.

The Community Team is responsible for the following:

  • Update dcos.io/releases with new links
    • Point release - add new release note link to dcos.io/releases and update AWS, Azure, and Download links
    • New latest stable release - do above and make sure to update the /install to reflect the right version in the card
    • Major release - do all of the above, and add a new section to the /releases page listing major new features.
  • Sending out an email to users@dcos.io about the release with highlights and links to release notes and community resources. See previous emails to the list about releases as a template to draft a similar one.
  • Scheduling a series of tweets from the @dcos account to announce and share the release.
  • Adding a note about the release in the DC/OS Slack #general channel.
  • Changing the pinned tweet on the @dcos profile page

Running WG Meetings

Working group meeting leaders populate the agendas for their meetings. The community team helps with other meeting logistics:

  • Maintain the DC/OS community calendar.
  • Maintain the recurring meetings in the DC/OS Zoom account to make sure that permissions are correct.
  • Remind WG leaders to pick topics a couple days in advance.
  • Send a reminder email to the working group and users@dcos.io the day before the meeting.
  • Put a reminder in the WG Slack channel the day before the meeting, and immediately before add the zoom link to the channel as well.
  • Download the recording of the meeting from Zoom and upload it to the proper YouTube Playlist.

Uploading meeting recordings to YouTube

The community team maintains the DC/OS and Mesos YouTube brand accounts. To upload a video:

  • Download the video from the online Zoom account
  • Sign into the brand account and upload the video
  • Format the title with the date first and the type of meeting second, so it looks like this: GMT 2018-07-02 Community WG. This standard formatting keeps videos in order on their playlists.
  • Add the video to the appropriate playlist, tag it to make it more discoverable, and publish it once its finished uploading.
  • If there is a lot of dead air at the beginning of the recording, trim the video onece it's done uploading.
    • Go to the finished recording and click Edit Video.
    • On the Enhancements tab click the trim button near the bottom and slide the end sliders to cut out the dead air.
    • Save the results.
  • When you're done uploading the video, delete the recording from the Zoom account so it doesn't take up space.

Logo refreshes

If the DC/OS logo changes we need to replace it in the following places:

  • Slack
  • Twitter
  • GitHub
  • YouTube
  • Meetup
