Modes and Cheats

Game modes

Choose Classic, Hard, Nuzlocke, or Hard + Nuzlocke when starting a new game. Your Trainer Card shows the selected mode.

Classic includes the revised trainer teams and all the ordinary Yellow++ changes.

Hard adds progression-based level caps, forces SET battle style, and blocks item use in trainer battles. Its caps are 15, 26, 36, 46, 56, 61, 66, 70, and 85, increasing to 100 after becoming Champion. Hard uses the same reworked trainer teams as Classic.

Nuzlocke limits catches by region, requires nicknames, and makes fainting permanent: ordinary healing and revival cannot bring fainted Pokémon back. Gifts also count against regional restrictions, so extra gifts available in Classic are subject to those limits.

The optional Dupe Clause checks whether you have caught a member of the same evolutionary family. Running from a duplicate preserves the area's encounter; defeating it still uses that encounter.

Hard + Nuzlocke combines both sets of restrictions.

Seeded wild randomizer

  • Optional during new-game setup, with a shareable text seed of up to 10 characters.
  • The same seed gives the same species mapping.
  • Randomizes ordinary walking encounters, including grass, caves, and surfing.
  • Fishing, gifts, static encounters, and trainer teams keep their own species.
  • The Trainer Card shows randomizer and Dupe Clause information when enabled.

Unlocking cheats

Enter ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A on the main menu, then start or continue with cheats enabled. The unlock and selected settings are saved.

Use LEFT/RIGHT to adjust settings and B or START to leave. Cheats are disabled during link activities.

All cheat settings

These six settings can target User, Foe, Both, or be Off:

  • Infinite HP
  • 1-hit KO
  • Always Crit
  • Never Miss
  • Super Eff.
  • No Status — prevents ordinary status conditions; does not cover confusion or Leech Seed.

Additional settings:

  • Infinite PP
  • 100% Catch
  • Learn Any TM
  • Infinite Items
  • B: No Clip — hold B to pass through overworld obstacles.
  • Infinite Safari
  • All Shiny — newly generated eligible Pokémon are shiny.
  • Perfect DVs — newly generated eligible Pokémon have maximum natural stats.
  • No Wild Mons
  • EXP Boost — ×2, ×3, ×4, or ×8.
  • Money Boost — ×2, ×3, ×4, or ×8 trainer rewards.
  • Wild Level — set wild encounters to a level from 2–255.
  • Next WildMon — choose a species by Pokédex number 1–151. The choice stays active until changed.

All Shiny and Perfect DVs cannot be enabled together. Wild overrides apply to walking and fishing encounters, rather than trainers or scripted battles. Catch and encounter cheats still respect checks such as Nuzlocke restrictions and available storage space.
