Sapling progression

Not every wood type is available from the start — each one unlocks the next.

Breaking a leaf block has a small chance to drop the sapling of the next wood type, in addition to its usual drops.

Broken block Chance drop
oak Oak Leaves birch Birch Sapling
birch Birch Leaves spruce Spruce Sapling
spruce Spruce Leaves acacia Acacia Sapling
cherry Cherry Leaves pale oak Pale Oak Sapling
pale oak Pale Oak Leaves poplar Poplar Sapling

Important

If the axe would break on that cut, the felling is cancelled: you simply break the single log. No axe is lost.

Oak → Birch → Spruce → Acacia → Cherry → Pale Oak → Poplar → Dark Oak → Jungle

Tip

To get a Cherry Sapling, apply pink dye to an Acacia Sapling.

Note

The drop is a bonus: the leaf block still gives its normal loot.

Lumberjack

Chop one log, and the whole tree comes down.

CraftinSky turns every axe into a lumberjack's axe: break the bottom log of a natural tree and the whole trunk — along with its leaves — is felled at once.

How it works

  1. Hold an axe in your main hand (wooden, stone, iron, golden, diamond or netherite).
  2. Do not sneak, then break the lowest log of the tree.
  3. The tree is detected and felled automatically: every log and every leaf is removed.
  4. Leaves drop their normal loot — including the 1% chance of the next sapling (see Sapling progression).

Note

Felling starts from the log you break and scans upwards. Break a log in the middle of the trunk and only the part above it falls.

Tip

Hold sneak to disable the mechanic and chop block by block.

Natural trees only

The pack checks that the trunk is surrounded by leaves before felling (at least 4 leaf sides), so a pillar of logs you built by hand will not be cut down.

Durability

Each log costs 1 durability point on the axe, divided by the Unbreaking level).
