Ctrl+Shift+B — Lightshot-style region selector

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+B — screen is captured, shown with dim overlay
  2. Drag a box around text you want to match

ContextPaste v0.3.1 — Learned Patterns + UX Fixes

ContextPaste v0.3.1

New: Learned Paste Patterns

Every time you manually paste (Ctrl+Shift+V → select → Enter), ContextPaste now records:

  • What you pasted (content type: URL, Credential, JSON, etc.)
  • Where you pasted it (app name, window title)
  • What the screen showed (the prompt/label text)

These learned patterns appear in Settings > Auto-Paste > Learned Patterns where you can:

  • See frequency counts ("Used 5 times")
  • See captured context ("GitHub Personal Access Token")
  • Click "Make Rule" to auto-create a paste rule from the pattern
  • Delete patterns you don't want

UX Fixes

  • Ctrl+Shift+V no longer hangs — overlay shows instantly (removed blocking PowerShell from hotkey thread)
  • Arrow key navigation works — search input now properly releases focus for ↑↓ navigation
  • Selection highlight visible — blue ring border on selected item instead of barely-visible tint
  • Shortcut events properly wired — overlay auto-opens on Ctrl+Shift+V

How Learned Patterns Work

Step 1: Copy a GitHub token
Step 2: Press Ctrl+Shift+V in Terminal → select token → Enter
Step 3: System records: "Credential → Terminal (Context: GitHub Access Token)"
Step 4: After a few uses, it appears in Settings > Learned Patterns
Step 5: Click "Make Rule" → auto-paste rule created!
Step 6: Next time Terminal asks for a token → auto-pastes!

ContextPaste v0.3.0 — Context-Aware Auto-Paste

Choose a tag to compare

@mthamil107 mthamil107 released this 15 Mar 04:50
e64f55b

ContextPaste v0.3.0

The clipboard manager that reads your screen and pastes the right thing automatically.

New: Context-Aware Auto-Paste

When you press Ctrl+Shift+V, ContextPaste now:

  1. Reads the screen — detects what the focused app/field is asking for (via Windows UI Automation)
  2. Matches context — uses keyword analysis + content type inference to find the best clipboard item
  3. Auto-pastes if confident — pastes immediately and shows a small toast notification
  4. Falls back to overlay — if confidence is below threshold, shows the normal Quick Paste overlay

How It Works

Terminal asks: "Enter your GitHub token:"
→ ContextPaste reads "GitHub token" from the focused element
→ Matches to your most recent Credential item
  → Auto-pastes it (confidence: 85%)
  → Shows toast: "Auto-pasted: ghp_••••wxyz (85%)"

Paste Rules

Create custom rules in Settings > Auto-Paste:

  • App pattern — regex match against app name (e.g., Terminal|cmd)
  • Window title pattern — regex match against window title
  • Context pattern — regex match against screen text (e.g., password|token|secret)
  • Action — paste most recent item of a type, or a specific pinned item

Configuration

Setting Default Description
Enable auto-paste Off Opt-in feature, must be enabled
Confidence threshold 75% Slider from 50% to 95%
Show toast On Notification after auto-paste

Safety

  • Credentials are NEVER auto-pasted — always shows overlay for sensitive items
  • Low confidence = overlay — no guessing, falls back to manual selection
  • Opt-in — disabled by default, enable in Settings > Auto-Paste
