Kroma Ecosystem 2.7.1 — live Store and in-app updates

Choose a tag to compare

@mutlukurt mutlukurt released this 20 Oct 23:34

Kroma Ecosystem 2.7.1 keeps the desktop app's Store always current and lets the app update itself.

What's new

  • Live Store: stickers, animations, Lottie files, design elements and Slides templates now load from kromaecosystem.tech, so new items appear in the app as soon as they're published, without a new app version. Offline, the app uses the copy it was installed with.
  • In-app updates:
    • Windows and Linux (AppImage, .deb, .rpm): new versions download in the background and install with one click on "Restart to update". Each download is checked against its SHA-512 before it installs.
    • macOS, Snap and Flatpak: the app tells you when a new version is out, and one click downloads it.
  • Linux: AppImage, .deb, .rpm, Snap and Flatpak packages, each installed and opened on a clean machine before it's attached here.

Kroma Ecosystem 2.6.1 for Mac

Download: Kroma-2.6.1-arm64.dmg (335 MB, macOS 12 or later, Apple silicon)
SHA-256: 037226676f7a74d8565b714d6c13256635d60b3f4b9bce79884df7ccd4f76f52

What's new

  • Fix: the app now opens in the light theme for everyone who hasn't picked a theme. Builds before 2.6.0 saved "dark" automatically, which kept 2.6.0 dark for people updating.
  • A new Slides Studio. A drag-and-drop canvas editor with 370 original templates across pitch decks, reports, lessons, research, events, portfolios and more. The element library covers icons, illustrations, stickers, photos, maps, flags, QR codes, charts, and device and print mockups. PowerPoint export stays editable and embeds the fonts.
  • Light theme, now the default. A clean white interface across every studio. Switch to Dark or System from View → Appearance, the account menu or ⌘K.
  • New typography and refreshed screens throughout the app.

Installing

  1. Open the DMG and drag Kroma Ecosystem into Applications.
  2. The app is signed ad-hoc but not notarized by Apple, so the first launch is blocked. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway.
  3. To check the download, run shasum -a 256 Kroma-2.6.1-arm64.dmg in Terminal and compare the result with the SHA-256 above.

Updating from an earlier build keeps your pages and settings.
