WDG Aircraft Sidecar v1.1.0 - Windows native

Windows-native release

Windows 10/11 x64 users no longer need Docker or a separate Python installation.

1. Download WDG-Aircraft-Sidecar-Windows-x64-v1.1.0.zip.
2. Extract the entire folder.
3. Plug in one compatible RTL-SDR and a 1090 MHz antenna.
4. Double-click Start-WDG-Aircraft-Sidecar.cmd.
5. Enter your own 64-character WDG Wars API key when prompted; input is hidden.

If Windows has not used that RTL-SDR with SDR software before, follow the included guarded Zadig/WinUSB instructions. The package remains headless: it has no web UI and its only listener is the local-only SBS feed at 127.0.0.1:30003.

Status.cmd shows message, pending-aircraft, uploaded-aircraft, authentication, and last-upload state. Data and the API key stay under the current account's %LOCALAPPDATA%\Canadaverse\WDG-Aircraft-Sidecar folder.

Linux

The existing easy Docker path remains supported. Tags 1.1.0, 1.1, and latest are published for both linux/amd64 and linux/arm64:

Canadaverse WDG Aircraft Sidecar is now a small, headless appliance for anyone with a compatible RTL-SDR and a WDG Wars API key.

The setup script detects one common RTL2832U receiver and its serial number, prompts invisibly for the 64-character WDG API key, starts the multi-architecture Docker image, and refuses to report success until the receiver is healthy and WDG authentication succeeds.

Breaking change

The dashboard from the 0.2/0.3 series has been removed. Users who need that legacy UI can remain pinned to 0.3.4; v1 is deliberately a minimal collector/uploader.

v0.3.4 · Actual WDG territory grid

Adds the authoritative WDG Wars 0.02-degree territory grid to the public Royal City Recon dashboard. The bounded Guelph-Waterloo-Cambridge snapshot uses WDG team colours and aggregate cell stats while removing user identifiers. Aircraft clustering, the coarse activity layer, and the full-layer fit control remain available.

• Clusters nearby aircraft at regional zoom; individual aircraft and heading vectors return at zoom 12+
• Updates map markers in place instead of rebuilding every layer
• Uses a bounded six-hour map view and a 200-record API payload cap while preserving all-time totals
• Polls every 10 seconds without overlap and pauses in hidden tabs
• Skips unchanged table and WDG panel redraws
