v26.8.15
OpenSplit v26.8.15 — GLM 5.3 assist Fix Summary
Commit: 0dfc8fc on main · Verified with cargo check, cargo test (3/3), and svelte-check (0 errors)
1. Terminal freeze (main bug)
Heavy commands (pane_foreground_info, resolve_split_spec, detect_tools,
get_startup_action, get_shell_spec, spawn_pane) now run on Tauri's async
runtime instead of the UI thread.
- Sync Tauri commands execute on the main thread, so the full process-table
sweep done on every right-click was blocking keystrokes, output delivery,
and context-menu actions — the exact "dead terminal, nothing responds" bug. - Slimmed the sysinfo refresh to just
exe/cmd/cwd(previously collected
unused per-process envs and disk counters). - Config read lock is now dropped before the process sweep, so
set_*
commands no longer block behind it.
2. Close Pane race
performClose now marks the pane as intentionally closed before killing it,
so the pane:exit handler can't respawn a fresh shell over the leaf you just
asked to close.
3. Output event flooding
PTY output now flows through a coalescing emitter thread (max one pane:data
event per 4 ms / 256 KB batch), so heavy output can no longer flood the
UI-thread event queue and degrade the app over long sessions.
4. UTF-8 corruption
Partial multi-byte characters split across read boundaries are now held back
and completed by the next chunk, instead of turning into (this affected
box-drawing chars common in TUI tools). Covered by 3 unit tests.
v26.8.12: feat(panes): scroll each terminal to bottom after splitter drag release
changing the size between terminal splits auto goes to end of text in all terminals to prevent strange location after rearrangements
v26.8.11: fix(panes): stop freeze when dragging splitter after scrollback fills up
Fix summary: splitter-drag freeze after long context
Symptom: With two terminals in a vertical split, after extended use, dragging the center divider froze the app (unresponsive / "not responding").
v26.8.4
- context menu position fixes
- screen refresh update tik rate options
v26.6.23
OpenSplit v26.5.20
OpenSplit v26.5.20
TLDR
Major performance increase.
GPU was using 10-15% utilization rendering incoming text. No more constant GPU spikes while it is working due to default 1 FPS mode.
Rendering / GPU
- Added a persisted Low GPU Mode checkbox in Settings (1 FPS).
- Low GPU Mode updates passive terminal output once per second to reduce repaint/GPU load.
- Changed default passive terminal rendering from ~30 FPS to ~15 FPS.
- Keystrokes stay responsive: terminal output temporarily flushes at a fast rate after user input so typing, SSH hints, and Tab completion do not feel delayed.
- Disabled xterm cursor blink and removed the pulsing activity-dot animation to avoid unnecessary repaint work.
- Added WebView launch args to disable GPU acceleration for the app window.
Settings / Config
- Added
low_gpu_mode = onto the config schema and example TOML. - Settings now persists Low GPU Mode through the existing config file.
Build / Packaging
- Bumped version from
26.5.18to26.5.20. - Release portable exes now go to
release\instead of frontenddist\. - Windows build script now falls back to a timestamped portable exe if the default release exe is locked during testing.

OpenSplit v26.5.18
Right-click menu has a new Size submenu. (useful for recording video)
- Size options include square, horizontal 16:9, and vertical 9:16 presets
When a pane is running SSH, split actions now show as Dup SSH Horizontal and Dup SSH Vertical.
- The SSH duplicate behavior still reuses your normal ssh setup, so your fixed SSH config/key should make it open without a password.

OpenSplit v26.5.16
Problem
when SSH is used to remote into another machine to run opencode, local OS (Windows) can't get clipboard data since opencode auto copies on highlight mouse release, which makes manual right click copy not doable with application.
Solution
OpenSplit 26.5.16 - OSC 52 Clipboard Forwarding
This build adds OSC 52 clipboard forwarding, which lets tools running inside SSH sessions copy text back to the local Windows clipboard through OpenSplit.
New
- Added OSC 52 clipboard support in OpenSplit's xterm layer.
- Remote terminal apps can now emit OSC 52 sequences and update the Windows clipboard.
- Useful for workflows like Windows -> SSH into Ubuntu -> run opencode -> copy selected text back to Windows.
- Invalid or oversized OSC 52 payloads are ignored safely.

Highlights
- Auto-detects installed AI CLIs including opencode, Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Kimi Code, aider, cursor-agent, ShellGPT, and the system shell.
- Right-click any pane to split horizontally or vertically.
- Switch a pane to another detected tool without changing the layout.
- Respawns a shell when a launched tool exits, so panes do not go blank.
- Inherits SSH sessions into new splits when possible.
- Opens new splits in the current working directory when detectable.
- Includes copy/paste, activity indicators, settings, default-tool persistence, and window-size persistence.
- Augments PATH for GUI-launched sessions so common user install locations like npm, Cargo, Bun, Scoop, pnpm, and local bin directories are available.
