Important

Hotfix for 1.1.1: the launcher opens again. Nothing else changes: same characters, same features. If you already play 1.1.0 or 1.1.1, you don't need to reinstall: update your folder (below).

Fixed

  • The game started without its launcher. Starting the game went straight into Tekken 3, so the launcher (controls, keyboard keys, display, audio) could only be opened from a terminal with --settings. The game now opens on its launcher: click PLAY to start. To go straight into the game next time, tick Skip launcher on boot.
  • --settings was sometimes ignored: right after a setup (first run or an update), on macOS without the setup window, and in the Terminal setup. It now always opens the launcher, even when Skip launcher on boot is ticked, so you can untick it.

Update (no reinstall)

  1. Put the new files into the tekken3-expanded folder you already set up:
    • git: run git pull in the folder;
    • ZIP: download Source code (zip) below, extract it with 7-Zip, then copy the contents of its tekken3-expanded-1.1.2 folder into your existing folder, replacing every file (Yes to All).
  2. Start Setup Tekken 3.cmd (Windows) or Setup Tekken 3.command (macOS).
    • From 1.1.1: the launcher opens right away. There is nothing to rebuild.
    • From 1.1.0: the setup window opens with your files already filled in. Click Set up & play: it rebuilds the game in about a minute, and your imported TTT characters, saves and settings are kept.

Don't move .setup, workspace or build-release to a new folder: the build would fail there. Updating in place is all it takes.

New install

Nothing changes from 1.1.0: download Source code (zip) below, extract all of it (7-Zip on Windows), then run Setup Tekken 3.command (macOS) or Setup Tekken 3.cmd (Windows). About 17 minutes the first time. Step-by-step instructions are in the README.

No game files are included. You provide your own Tekken 3 disc image and your own Tekken Tag Tournament and Tekken 3 arcade ROMs. See What you need for the exact versions.
