22. Onboarding Data Analytics Team

Introduction

Congratulations !!! and Welcome to the Ona Analytics team.

This documentation will outline how we think about delivery for most of our projects and help you become acquainted with the processes and tools we use.

Ona Kenya Limited consists of different teams:

• Analytics
• Biz Dev
• Client success
• Engineering(Onadata, OpenSRP)
• Finance
• Operations
• People specialist
• Quality Assurance
• SRE

During the first week, you’ll have an onboarding session set up with the team leads of the various teams.

Tools and technologies

These are some of the accounts and tools that you need to set up with the help of your team buddy;

• Work email: The work email is already set up and an invite sent to your personal email.
• Slack: Most of the interactions with collegues happen on slack. To set up, click on this link. Once you have a slack account, you need to be invited to the team channel (analytics-team) and you can join some of the channels such as #general, #dbt-logs, #airbyte-logs, #datanerds, #data-solutions, #data-engineering, #food, #music, #random, #thanks, #ona-ladies, #futa.
• Github: To set up a github account, go to this link and request to be added to the ona.io organization account and the data_analysts team. It’s security recommendation to have our commits signed, here is a documentation to help you set this up.
• DBT: The data transformation tool used by the team. To set up a DBT cloud account, click on this link. To use DBT cli, take a look at this wiki. To get familiar with DBT Best Practices, click on this link.
• OnaData account: This is the data collection platform that is used by thousands of organizations to collect and monitor their data in real time. To sign up, take a look at this guide
• Akuko: You can be invited to an Akuko workspace or set up your personal account by signing up here
• Airbyte: You can be invited to an Airbyte workspace or set up an account by signing up here
• Avaza: For permanent employees, set up an avaza account by signing up here, request to be invited to Ona Systems,Inc and added to tha data analytics team.
• DBeaver: Download using this link and Install DBeaver. This documentation will help with DBeaver and vault installation.
• Ona Vault: For further instructions on the vault installation, please visit these SRE page.
• Bitwarden: You can request to be invited to bitwarden, then request SRE team to add you to the Data Analytics Team collection on bitwarden.
