"Quantum Control with AMD Versal RF Series and PYNQ Framework", Graham Schelle, Fellow, AMD Research
-
ABSTRACT: Quantum control systems provide the first layer of compute outside the QPU array itself, delivering low-latency control and readout. This talk explores how AMD’s Versal RF silicon and PYNQ’s open-source Python APIs can make these systems more accessible to students, educators, and researchers.
We will also highlight QICK (Quantum Instrumentation Control Kit), an open-source project developed at Fermilab using AMD RFSoC boards. By combining QICK with PYNQ, learners can work directly with quantum instrumentation and explore the hardware and software involved in control and readout.
And as part of the latest release of PYNQ support for Versal support, we could not ignore agentic tool flows to modernize how PYNQ is developed and maintained. We will show how these agentic flows are simplifying the programmable logic experience for all users (not just quantum physicists!). It perhaps is clear to this community, but we will present these agentic flows as absolutely necessary for new users looking to begin their quantum control research.
