Variant tags
Variant tags were added to replace the tagging functionality available via the inventory, we are retiring the inventory system. Currently it offers similar functionalities but only for variant an enterprise own, ie, it doesn't apply to variant an enterprise as the permission to manage. The linked variant functionality will address this limitation, by allowing you to create a linked variant which the enterprise will own, and thus will be able to apply tag rules to.
- they are both managed via groups in flipper, the cut off dates is 2025-08-11:
- enterprise created before the cut off date and with at least one inventory entry (VariantOverride) will have inventory enabled
- enterprise created after the cut off and with no inventory entry (VariantOverride) will have variant_tag enabled
- when both toggle are enabled, variant_tag will take precedence
- enterprise created before the cut off date can access the inventory by :
- turn on the inventory toggle for this specific enterprise (optional, but it's good practice to do so, it let's see it was intentional)
- access the inventory via this url:
<ofn_instance_url>/admin/inventoryand add some inventory entries
- enterprise created after the cut off date can access the inventory by :
- turn on the inventory toggle for this specific enterprise
- access the inventory via this url:
<ofn_instance_url>/admin/inventoryand add some inventory entries - update the enterprise
created_atto a date older that the cut off date, this will require help from a developer.
The toggle were set up this way to allow old enterprise to keep using inventory, with the aim that no new enterprise should be using the inventory.
