Visual Math 0.8.2 — Public beta

Use Visual Math / Oliver consistently in installed plugin details and public developer bylines. About now reads the display name and author from the manifest. The stable visual-math-editor ID, saved equations/graphs, settings and existing legal notices are retained.

• 194 automated tests, TypeScript, build and packaging passed; 368 browser component checks passed.
• Focused native metadata/manual-upgrade check passed on macOS / Obsidian 1.14.4: Settings shows Visual Math v0.8.2 By Oliver; About shows Visual Math 0.8.2 · Oliver. Settings and the saved graph example were preserved.
• This patch changes display metadata and the About byline. Existing 0.8.1 polar/XYZ acceptance results are recorded separately; this is not a new full graph or cross-platform certification.
• Six release assets carry GitHub build provenance. Provenance verifies build identity, not absence of defects. Obsidian directory review and search-index synchronization are separate from GitHub publication; see TEST-REPORT.md.

Download visual-math-editor-0.8.2.zip for manual installation. Obsidian's updater uses the separate main.js, manifest.json and styles.css assets. visual-math-editor-source-0.8.2.zip contains the corresponding buildable source and pinned dependency archives. Keep data.json when updating, save drafts first and restart Obsidian afterward.

GPLv3-only with the Obsidian linking exception; full terms and third-party notices are retained. Earlier published grants are unchanged.

Visual Math 0.8.1 — Public beta

Visual Math 0.8.1 is a desktop public-beta maintenance update for the 0.8 graph tools.

Fixes

• Remove the unnecessary type assertion reported by the 0.8.0 community scan and an unused equation-conversion import.
• Validate saved graph modes and calculus choices as strings before membership checks. Valid saved formats remain compatible; malformed arrays/objects are rejected explicitly.
• Use permitted punctuation in the plugin description.
• Include complete Spanish documentation in both installation and source packages, with English / 简体中文 / Español navigation and matching download/checksum links.

Verification

194 automated tests, type checking, production build, packaging and 368 browser component checks passed. The local official-rule scan reports zero source errors, three reviewed sentence-case warnings, and no manifest errors or warnings. The unnecessary-assertion and unused-import findings are absent.

Focused native checks used macOS and Obsidian 1.14.4. Hybrid formulas generated a polar rose and an explicit XYZ saddle directly below the editor. Formulas and graphs were inserted together; dragging, rotation, zoom and Save view were exercised. After quitting/restarting Obsidian, both Edit graph panels restored the exact saved expressions, numeric ranges, theta limits and camera angles. The previous settings and demonstration note remained unchanged.

This records a manual upgrade; native marketplace installation, other desktop platforms, mobile, detached windows and arbitrary third-party combinations remain unverified. Other calculus/science workflows retain their separately recorded coverage. GitHub publication and the independent 0.8.1 community review are separate checks. See TEST-REPORT.md.

Hosted main/tag checks on Node.js 22/24 and release workflow 39198660182 passed. All six downloaded assets passed provenance verification against commit 2a064dcfe8afffb2971aabf103d0a058c68a94c5, tag refs/tags/0.8.1, the signing workflow and rejection of self-hosted runners. Both ZIP checksums passed. Runtime attachments match the installer and natively tested plugin byte-for-byte; the complete source archive matches that exact tag.

The independent 0.8.1 / 2a064dc directory review is now Completed. The public listing shows Health Excellent / Review Passed, six passes and two recommendations, without Error or Warning entries. The former assertion/import findings are absent; user-initiated clipboard access and optional download archives remain disclosed. Malware and network-request scans were unavailable; this is not an independent security audit.

Downloads and updates

Use visual-math-editor-0.8.1.zip for installation. Save drafts, disable the plugin, back up its folder, retain data.json, copy the new program files and restart Obsidian. The three individual runtime attachments support the community updater; ZIPs/checksums are optional manual downloads. The complete source ZIP retains GPLv3-only terms with the Obsidian linking exception, third-party notices and fixed dependency sources. Earlier releases/tags remain unchanged.

Visual Math 0.8.0 — Public beta

Visual Math 0.8.0 adds more offline graphing tools to your Obsidian notes.

New

• Polar graphs: r=f(theta), equal X/Y units, a polar grid, editable theta range and rose/spiral examples.
• Calculus: first/second numerical derivatives, and signed definite-integral estimates with shaded intervals.
• XYZ wireframes: explicit z=f(x,y), editable X/Y/Z ranges, drag rotation, wheel/pinch zoom and saved camera angles.
• Faster input: common-symbol buttons insert at the caret or wrap a selection; example buttons replace the expression.
• Graph supported y=, r= and z= formulas directly below the equation editor without retyping them.
• English, Simplified Chinese and Spanish controls, errors and graph descriptions.

Continuous 3D drag/pinch gestures remain active across preview refreshes. An explicit Reset cancels queued gesture changes.

Install or update

Download visual-math-editor-0.8.0.zip for manual installation. Extract it and copy the complete visual-math-editor folder into your vault's .obsidian/plugins directory. The ZIP is compiled; Node.js is not required. Save any open equation drafts, disable the plugin, back up its folder, retain your existing data.json settings, replace program files and restart Obsidian.

Community-directory review and availability are separate from this GitHub Release. When the update appears in Obsidian, use Settings → Community plugins → Check for updates → Update.

Validation and limits

194 automated tests, type checking/build, packaging and 368 browser component checks passed. Browser checks include serialized save/remount tests and multi-frame drag/pinch regression coverage. Native Obsidian 0.8.0 insertion, save/reopen and saved-note view persistence have not been verified. Please try a disposable test vault first. Earlier native results apply only to their stated versions. Windows, Linux, mobile, detached windows and arbitrary third-party combinations remain unverified.

Graphs and calculus are bounded numerical approximations, not symbolic algebra. Integration requires a finite continuous interval with increasing bounds; improper integrals and reversed limits are unsupported. Polar theta spans are at most 100π radians. XYZ renders explicit wireframes with independent axis scales, not general implicit or parametric surfaces. Sampling can miss fine features.

Saved formulas and graph blocks remain independent after insertion. Older function/complex-plane blocks remain supported; new graph options require 0.8.0 to render/edit.

The matching complete source ZIP, dependency sources, GPLv3-only terms with the Obsidian linking exception, third-party notices and SHA256SUMS.txt are included. Release assets carry GitHub artifact attestations.

Visual Math 0.7.0 — Desktop public beta

Visual Math is the new display name of Visual Math Editor. Keep the existing visual-math-editor folder and settings; this is the same plugin and update identity.

• Graph a supported formula directly below the editor without typing it twice. Editing either Hybrid pane updates the current preview; Insert equation and graph saves both together.
• Choose English, Simplified Chinese or Spanish. Spanish element search and graph descriptions are included.
• Save a completed equation as your own keyword, then type it in Visual/Hybrid or insert it from the saved list.
• Continue using offline chemistry notation and optional balance suggestions, physics templates, units, the element table and Re/Im complex planes.
• View real Obsidian screenshots, bilingual installation instructions and exact checks in the repository.

License transition

New original project code and this release as a whole use GPL version 3 only with the narrow Obsidian linking exception. Commercial use and redistribution are allowed under GPL; distribution of covered derivatives requires compliant licensing and Corresponding Source. Notes/formulas are not GPL-covered merely by using the plugin. Earlier releases through 0.6.5 retain their existing MIT grants, and third-party licenses remain unchanged. See LICENSING.md.

• visual-math-editor-0.7.0.zip: ready-to-install plugin. Extract the folder into the vault's .obsidian/plugins/, preserving existing data.json, then restart Obsidian.
• visual-math-editor-source-0.7.0.zip: matching Corresponding Source, scripts, dependency metadata, exact upstream preferred-source/npm archives and build instructions. Developers can build with Node.js 22 or 24 using npm ci, npm run check and npm run package.
• Individual main.js, manifest.json and styles.css files support the Obsidian updater. Extra ZIPs/checksums are for manual use; Obsidian does not download them automatically.
• SHA256SUMS.txt verifies both ZIPs. All six release assets have verified GitHub build provenance for the exact 0.7.0 source tag and signing workflow.

Checks and limits

172 automated tests, type checking, production build, packaging and 345 browser component checks passed. Hosted main/tag CI on Node.js 22/24 and the release workflow passed. Targeted native tests used macOS and Obsidian 1.14.4: linked graph editing/save/reopen, Spanish and persistent keyword expansion with actual keyboard input.

The graph follows its formula inside the current editor. Saved formula and graph blocks are independent; regenerate or edit the graph after later formula changes. Windows, Linux, mobile, detached windows and arbitrary plugin/theme combinations remain unverified. Directory review is separate from GitHub publication. See TEST-REPORT.md.

中文：新版更名为 Visual Math，加入公式下方绘图、西班牙语和自定义公式快捷词；安装文件夹不变，保留已有设置。新版采用 GPLv3 与 Obsidian 连接例外，允许遵守 GPL 的商用，分发衍生代码须开放相应源码；旧版 MIT 授权仍有效。普通用户下载第一个安装 ZIP，源码 ZIP 供开发者修改、构建和合规再分发。
