##Features

  • Show the Dash on the bottom
  • Show Launchers based on current Workspace
  • Intellihide Behaviour
  • TODO Access Launchers via Hotkeys a la Super + [Launcher Number]
  • PROPOSED Hotkey
    • Afaik Super+D is not used anymore by Shell, so we could bind the Dock to it.
  • PROPOSED Show Windows on Hover
    • See Mockup1
    • Complimenting this, we should visually cue windows in the Overview (window Spread) when the User is hovering over a Launcher, f.e. hovering Nautilus Launcher will add a border around all visible Nautilus Winows in th Spread.
  • PROPOSED Close Windows from Dock
    • See Mockup1
    • If possible we could implement a feature that provides close buttons for all Launchers on holding Ctrl or making a long-press
    • Negative: Bad Accessibility, might be confusing Users into thinking they will remove the Launcher

##User Options

  • Icon Size
    • Maybe ? But if people want big Icons it will get overridden by Shell.
  • Reposition Dock?
    • NO! The Dock stays in the middle.
  • Bind to Display[x]?
    • The Dock should just follow the Mouse, so you can trigger it whereever you want and it will always work.
  • Only Show Windows from Workspace[x] ?
    • IF we make this an option, how do we handle Window Management? F.e. i am on Workspace 2, i click an active Launcher for which the Window is on Workspace 1, will i switch to Workspace 1? Will the Window get dragged to Workspace 2? It raises all kinds of issues.
  • Reveal Method
    • Intellihide
      • The Dock will show whenever there is enough space available
    • Autohide
      • The Dock always hides after Mouse Out
    • Dodge Maximised Windows
      • The Dock only hides if there are maximized Windows
    • Always visible
      • The Dock always shows on top of Windows
    • Always hide
      • The Dock always hides unless you enter Overview or trigger it via Hotkey or Accessibility Implementation (Ctrl+Alt+Tab)
      • This also provides a workaround for #38 but in a more logical way, the Hotkey will bring up the Dock instead of using a Hotkey to surpress it.

###Mockups1

###Window Shortcuts

Scenario:

  • Dock got initiated on Workspace.

    • You hold Ctrl, the Launchers will be overlaid with a number, pressing the number will open the Application (or focus the Window if open). If the Launcher has several Windows we will present the Window Popup and you now press 1 or 2 (or 3) again to open the corresponding Window.
  • In Overview (Window Spread)

    • You hold Ctrl, the Launchers will get the number overlay, the Windows also get an overlay with the correponding number (meaning f.e. Nautilus Launcher and Windows all have "1") , you press the number and the App will get opened (or focused), if the App has several Windows we visually cue the Windows (f.e. all Nautilus Windows) in the Overview and update the overlaying Numbers and you press the number 1 or 2 (or3)

Releasing Ctrl will only hide the overlay Numbers again but not leave the Overview if it was currently open.
