Getting Started
The verified stable download is v12.0.1. Avoid v12.0.0: its startup black-window bug is the reason for the hotfix.

Somnia-v12.0.1-amd64.AppImage or Somnia-v12.0.1-amd64.deb

The alpha.7 release has Windows x64 setup/MSI and Linux amd64 AppImage/DEB assets, plus SHA256SUMS. macOS was intentionally skipped. Do not infer the channel from an installer filename: alpha assets can contain the base version 12.2.0 without the suffix.
Read the release's known issues before installing. Download its checksum file and compare the SHA-256 of the installer you selected. On Linux, make an AppImage executable before running it. Windows installers are unsigned and may show SmartScreen warnings; macOS builds are ad-hoc signed, not notarized. These warnings are not proof that a file is safe. Do not disable system security globally.
Stable 12.0.1 includes macos-verification.txt; consult it for that build's platform details.
- Launch Somnia. Open an existing project with Project > Open Folder, or a single file with Project > Open File.
- Select a file in the Files panel. Its type determines the workspace; use the studio selector when you want a different supported view.
- For a website, use View to choose Design, Split or Code. Open the command palette with Ctrl/Cmd+K.
- Save before closing. Text/project saves and media save-as-copy flows are different. Creating a blank tab or seeing a preview is not proof that it is on disk.
- Reopen the saved file to confirm your first save on your platform. Keep a backup when trying an alpha.
The newer studio builds offer blank-document creation without a file picker. Blank documents start in memory. See Studios for format and persistence limits.
The web editor supports ZIP, folder, single HTML and Markdown export. Media studios use their own copy/export flows. Check the output and its destination before discarding your source project.
Use FAQ. For a bug report, include the release tag, operating system, steps, expected result and actual result. Do not post credentials, private project files or collaboration invite keys in a public issue.
