Full Setup Instructions (single and multi)

Set up your instances

  1. Download and install MultiMC. I recommend keeping your MultiMC folder directly in your C drive to avoid having any spaces in your file path.
  2. Click the "Add Instance" button and create an instance in the version you will be playing. Make sure not to put any spaces in the instance name. Something like 1.16.5_1 is a good idea; don't do 1.16.5 1. I recommend keeping all your instances of one version in a version group.
  3. Click on the instance click the "Edit Instance" button to set it up.
  4. Install the latest version of fabric
  5. Add your mods. Atum is required, do not use Krypton
  6. Add any Java arguments/select your Java
  7. Launch your instance and configure all of your settings. Make sure to turn the global options path on if you are using SpeedrunIGT.
  8. Shift-click on the gold boots on the title screen to configure your atum settings.
  9. Create a world, and press F3+P when you are in that world.
  10. Close the game.
  11. Configure your sleep background settings, standard options, and any other config files.
  12. If you are going to multi-instance, right click on that instance in MultiMC and click the "Copy Instance" button to copy it. Make sure to select "copy saves" and rename the instance (1.16.5_2 for example).
  13. Repeat the above for how many ever instances you plan on using. Start with more than you think you can handle, since it's easier to remove instances than it is to add them.

Initial macro setup

This video also shows some of the next steps if it's easier for you to follow that.

  1. Download and install AutoHotkey v1.1. Do not install v2.0 or higher
  2. Download the latest release and extract all into one folder.
  3. Open up all your instances (for the initial setup, make sure you keep track of the order and which one is which, so open them slowly).
  4. Slide your instance icons to the left side of the taskbar in order. Instance 1 should be the left-most instance, Instance 2 should the second from the left, and so on.
  5. Run the 1_InstanceSetup script by double clicking on it. If it doesn't have the icon as shown below, you may need to right click on the file, click "Open with"->"Choose another app"->"More apps"->"Look for another app on this PC", go to C:\Program Files\AutoHotkey, and double click on AutoHotkeyU64.exe. Check the "Always use this app to open .ahk files" and hit "OK".

  1. All that script does is place a file called instanceNumber.txt with a single digit in that file into your .minecraft folder (it does this for all of your instances), so if the script fails, you can just do this manually.

Since your instances have that file, you no longer need to open them up slowly, move them to the front of the taskbar, or remember which one is which.

Repeated configurations

  1. Right click on 2_options and click "Edit Script" or open the file with your preferred text editor (I find it easier to use something like VSCode rather than just using Notepad).
  2. Configure your options
  3. Make sure all of your instances are open.
  4. Configure your hotkeys for the main reset macro.
  5. Run the 4_SpawnJuicer script and do not click on any of the instances or click "OK" on the popup. If you accidentally do, you can restart the macro using the corresponding hotkey.

OBS Setup

If you're using single instance, you don't need to do all this, you can just record how you normally would.

Profiles and scene collections

In your OBS toolbar, you'll see that you can have multiple profiles and multiple scene collections.

A profile is basically just a preset of recording settings. For example, I can have my main profile record at 1080p, 60 fps, and I could have another verification profile record at 480p, 15 fps, and a lower bitrate to preserve resources.

A scene collection is a collection of scenes that can all be accessed without switching scene collections. The main purpose is so that you can have a verification scene collection with your verification scene so that the scene switching with your main scenes won't affect that.

You will need to create 2 profiles (optional):

  • Main profile with your normal settings
  • Verification profile with your reduced settings

You will need to create 3 scene collections

Before creating these, make sure you have started 5_SpawnJuicer so that all of your instances have a title that say Instance # in them.

Main scene collection:

  1. Create a scene for your overlay (chat, facecam, etc.).
  2. Create your first scene, and add a Window Capture for each instance. Yes, your first scene should have a source for all of your instances. Also, add in another source that's your overlay scene.
  3. Hide all of the sources except for the overlay and the instance that corresponds to the scene.
  4. Duplicate this scene for how many ever instances you have, and for each one, unhide the respective instance and hide all other instances.
  5. Optional: create another scene as your wall scene to show when all of your instances are resetting.
  6. Open up your OBS hotkey settings and make Numpad1 switch to scene 1, Numpad2 switch to scene 2, and so on.
  7. If you made the wall scene, make F12 switch to that one.

Verification scene collection:

  1. Make one scene that has a window capture for all of your instances, and make sure they're all visible.

Empty scene collection:

  1. Keep nothing here. This scene collection is good to switch to when your sources are mismatched with the instances if you opened OBS before the macro renamed your instance to, then you can switch back to the needed scene collection.

Other OBS notes:

This method is good for recording with two instances of OBS. One instance will use your Main scene collection and Main profile, and the other will use your Verification scene collection and Verification profile.

The Specnr setup video uses Source Record as opposed to two OBS instances, but it is still a good reference since a lot of the setup process is the same.

Two instances is preferred to using Source Record since Source Record is more resource-intensive, but if you want to use Source Record, watch the Specnr setup video on how to set up OBS.

Final notes

Once you have everything setup, click "OK" on the spawn juicer pop up and you're good to start resetting. The hotkey and options guide has more information on how to use the macro.
