Welcome to the Poutnik's Brouter custom profiles wiki

  • The profiles are used to calculate routes for bicycles, pedestrians and experimentally cars

  • The routing is based on a subset of the OpenStreetMap community based vector maps.

  • The routing / or just route generation can be done by one of the 3 ways:

    • By the Android application BRouter itself from Google Play ( just route generation )
    • By Android GPS navigation application OSMAnd, Locus and OruxMaps, that call BRouter internally via routing service API.
    • By BRouter Web Desktop Frontend - useful for profile testing and route planning
  • The bike profiles are mainly focused on trekking/travelling bikes. See Choosing bicycle profile page. The foot profiles are focused mainly on hiking / mountain hiking.

  • Bicycle-Trekking-profiles / Hiking-profiles / Car-profiles wiki pages contain more deeply commented various aspects of profile options and way how to activate them.

  • Brouter profiles collection gives general comment about the profiles.(need updates)

  • Here is the guide to get the profiles of interest.

  • You can also test the profiles online on Brouter-web frontend by pasting their text content to bottom left paste field + pressing UPLOAD button. It then appears as Custom profile, aside of predefined ones. Notice the changelog comments at top and bottom of the profile code. You can let the Web to generate GPX file and import it to Phone application to view it on route you along it.

  • As there was recently some confusion about used iswet flag, see the Iswet flag wiki page.

  • Some more verbose commentaries for Trekking/Hiking profiles
are on pages Trekking MTB Profiles legend and Hiking profiles verbose comments.
