Browser Extension

Save to ForkLeaf sends what you find on the web to your notebook's inbox: a whole page, selected text, a link or an image. You can also highlight text on any page and keep those highlights in your notes.

How it stays safe

The extension never writes to your notebook itself. Each save opens ForkLeaf in a new tab, which shows exactly what will be saved and asks before writing anything. The extension needs no account, holds no token, and asks for no host permissions.

Only the page's address, title, one-line description and the text you selected leave the page.

Install (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc)

  1. Download or clone the ForkLeaf repository.
  2. Open chrome://extensions and switch on Developer mode.
  3. Click Load unpacked and choose the apps/extension folder.

Use it

  • Right-click a page, a selection, a link or an image → Save to ForkLeaf.
  • Highlight: select text, then right-click → Highlight and save to ForkLeaf. Highlights are added to one note per page in forkleaf-saves/highlights/.
  • Revisiting a page? Show my ForkLeaf highlights here marks them again.

Running your own copy of ForkLeaf? Set its address in the extension's options page (the default is https://www.forkleaf.in).
