Better Monster Examine v1.7 — Not Enough Runes
🔗 Drops that open in Not Enough Runes
A drop row could always take you to the OSRS Wiki. If you also run Not Enough Runes, it can now take you there instead — straight to the item, in the sidebar, without leaving the client.
Integrations
- A new Integrations config section — the home for hand-offs to other plugins. Its first entry is Not Enough Runes, and it's off by default, so nothing changes unless you turn it on.
- Click a drop, land in Not Enough Runes — with the link on, clicking an item in the Drops tab opens it in NER's panel. Right-click still opens the wiki, so both are a click away.
- It degrades quietly — if Not Enough Runes isn't installed, is disabled, or gets switched off mid-session, clicking a drop just opens the wiki as before. Nothing dead-ends.
- The tooltip says where you'll land — Opens in NER, Opens in Wiki, or Opens in Wiki (no NER) when the link is on but that plugin isn't running. A fallback shouldn't be mistakable for a bug.
The other direction, too
- Other plugins can now open a monster here — Better Monster Examine listens for a
displayMonsterrequest and opens that monster's card, on the Stats or Drops tab, by name and combat level or by NPC id. It's how Not Enough Runes will send you back the other way once its half lands; you won't see it do anything until then, but it ships now so that side has a released version to build against. - A name has to match exactly to open a card. A near-miss goes into the search box with the results listed instead. Coming from another plugin, quietly opening the wrong monster is worse than showing you the options.
Under the hood
Plugin-hub plugins each load in their own classloader and can't see each other's code, so this goes over RuneLite's PluginMessage event — the supported channel for exactly this. The upshot for you: the two plugins update independently, and neither needs the other to be installed.
Thanks to Hannah-GBS, author of Not Enough Runes, for proposing the link and for the integration notes it was built from.

Better Monster Examine v1.6 — Usable variant lists
🧹 Variant lists you can actually use
The version dropdown was a mess on common monsters — Guard offered 124 entries, Zombie 80, Hill Giant 14 — because the wiki carries a row per sprite, and roughly a quarter of the bestiary's "variants" differed in nothing the plugin renders. This release reduces the bestiary to the variants a player can act on, and fixes two ways the wrong monster could be shown.
Variants
- Only variants that differ — rows with identical levels, bonuses, max hit, speed, attributes, immunities and size now collapse into one. Across the bestiary that's 3,227 → 2,410 versions (−25%): Guard 124 → 26, Zombie 80 → 35, Skeleton 66 → 31, Crystal impling 17 → 1, Hill Giant 14 → 2.
- Right-click still resolves every spawn — 1,005 NPC ids lived only on rows that collapse, so the surviving variant absorbs their ids rather than stranding them. Right-click on those spawns is unchanged.
- Right-click picks the correct row — when a spawn's id isn't in the dataset the plugin falls back to matching name + in-game combat level, and it used to take the first row at that level. In 240 cases those rows have genuinely different stats (Alchemical Hydra's four phases all sit at level 426, likewise Abyssal Sire and Araxxor), so it showed whichever one the wiki happened to list first. It now picks the canonical variant.
- Removed content dropped, but only when something's left —
(historical)NPCs no longer clutter the list, unless the whole name is historical (Barbarian woman), which would otherwise vanish from search entirely.
Stats
- A monster's own article wins over a page reusing its name — two different wiki pages can emit an infobox with the same name, and with no anchor, no default flag and the same combat level there was nothing to tell them apart. Shellbane gryphon's boss article and its Troubled Tortugans quest fight both became "Level 235" versions, and the plugin defaulted to the quest one — showing its real max hit of
22instead of the boss's22 / 64 (whirlwinds) / 30 (knockback). A bare name now resolves to the monster's own article, and a variant from another page is labelled with that page's qualifier instead of a meaningless#2. 33 monsters had labels found nowhere on the wiki; they now read correctly.
Drops
- Stack quantities are no longer cut off — item icons were locked to 28×28 while OSRS sprites are 36×32, cropping 2px off the top of every sprite.
ItemManagerdraws the stack count into exactly those pixels, so the digits lost their tops.
Reporting
- A visible route to the issue tracker — a
⚑ Report a bug or request a featurelink anchored at the bottom of the panel (outside the scroll pane, so it doesn't scroll away under a long drop list), plusReport an issueon the sidebar icon's right-click menu. Both fixes above came from player reports; nothing in the plugin said where to send one.
Thanks to Hot Melons (#60) and Louiziana (#52) for the reports.

Better Monster Examine v1.5.2 — Drop-table accuracy & recovered stats
🐛 Drop-table accuracy & recovered stats
A correctness release. The headline fix: drop tables that the wiki splits by location or combat level are no longer merged together, so a drop from one spot is never shown as a drop from everywhere.
Drops
- Location/level tables stay separate — a monster whose wiki page splits its drops (Cyclops' Warriors' Guild top floor vs. basement, Abyssal demon's Catacombs vs. Wilderness Slayer Cave) now keeps those tables apart, each under a band naming its location or level. Previously they were flattened together, which is what made the basement-only Dragon defender read as a drop from every Cyclops.
- Collapsible sections — location bands and the sections inside them can be collapsed, with collapse-all / expand-all per band and disclosure triangles to show state, so a long drop list is easy to skim.
- Rarity shown as the wiki shows it — odds now render in the wiki's own
1/xform rather than the raw source fraction. - Redirects followed — a monster whose page name is a redirect (e.g.
Hill giant→Hill Giant) now resolves instead of coming back empty.
Stats
- Vardorvis' Strength and Defence now show — they previously rendered as a dash. The wiki writes his HP-scaling levels as ranges (
270-360), which the wiki's structured-data store can't hold in a numeric column, so the values never reached the plugin. They're now recovered from the page itself, with the wiki's own footnote as a tooltip — a Defence that counts down (215→145) is the mechanic, not a bug.

Better Monster Examine v1.5.1 — Drops & config polish
🛠️ Drops & config polish
Refinements on top of the v1.5 Drops release — a tidier drops panel, smarter price highlighting, and a better-organised config.
Drops panel
- Rarity/odds under the item name — each drop's odds now sit directly under the item name (left-aligned) instead of at the right edge, so the whole row reads top-to-bottom.
- Smarter price highlighting — a drop's GE or High Alch value is highlighted only when it clears the cost of casting High Alchemy (1 nature + 5 fire runes, priced live from the GE). Junk drops where both sit below that cost stay unhighlighted, while a low-alch/high-GE drop such as a herb seed still highlights its GE.
- More complete drop tables — per-level drop sections are now recognised, not only a page's main
Dropssection.
Right-click menu
- Shift to reveal — a new option to add the Stats/Drops right-click entries only while Shift is held, to keep the normal menu uncluttered.
Config
- Grouped into sections — options are now organised into collapsible Right-click menu / Side panel / Accessibility sections, with the stats render target moved next to the menu it controls.
- Clearer labels — e.g. Show stats in (was "Stats render target"), Overlay (was "In-game overlay"), Colour palette under Accessibility (was "Stat highlighting"). Saved settings carry over.

Better Monster Examine v1.5 — Drops
🎁 New: Drops
Every monster's full loot is now in the side panel, sourced straight from the OSRS Wiki's own drop tables.
- A new
Stats | Dropstab strip — flip between a monster's combat stats and its drops without losing your place. Right-click any monster in game and pick Stats or Drops (configurable — show Stats, Drops, both, or neither). - The wiki's own drop-table sections, in page order — 100% · Weapons and armour · Runes · Herbs · Gem drop table · Rare drop table · Catacombs of Kourend · Wilderness Slayer Cave · Tertiary, and the rest — grouped exactly as they appear on the wiki, region tables included.
- Rarity at a glance — each drop's odds are colour-coded by rarity tier (common → ultra-rare), including the wiki's compound multi-roll rates. Honours the colour-blind-friendly highlighting mode.
- Prices on hover — GE price and High Alch for every item (the larger of the two highlighted). Noted drops render the noted icon, and clicking a drop opens the item's wiki page.
- No extra network for icons or prices — item icons and values come straight from your own client.
Drops are read from each monster's rendered wiki page and cached weekly (offline-friendly), so the panel shows the same sections and odds a player sees on the wiki.
See the panel in action in the README.

Better Monster Examine v1.4
New: Slayer box
A dedicated Slayer section now appears at the bottom of the panel (and the overlay's Info tab) for any Slayer monster, surfacing the full Slayer data instead of the old "Slayer monster: Yes" line:
- Required Slayer level — shown with the Slayer icon on the section header, highlighted red when it's above your own Slayer level (you can't damage the monster yet).
- Slayer XP per kill.
- Assignment categories the monster can be assigned under.
- Assigned by — the Slayer masters who assign it, shown as their chatheads (hover for the name).

- Release workflow: sync the fork's master and include the release notes in the plugin-hub PR body before opening it.
Better Monster Examine v1.3
One data source. The plugin now draws every stat from the OSRS Wiki Bucket API in a single clean cutover. This replaces the previous split — the ~2.3 MB Weirdgloop DPS-calc dataset plus per-monster wikitext infobox scraping — with one queryable source. The core combat data (levels, offensive/defensive bonuses, attack speed and style, weakness, max hits) is unaffected, and search, variants, the side panel, the in-game overlay, and stat highlighting all behave as before — the data underneath them is just simpler and more reliable.
Fields changed
Sourcing everything from Bucket shifts which of the niche indicators are available:
- Added: Burn immunity.
- Dropped: the Aggressive ("Attacks on sight") indicator, and Poison / Venom immunity. Bucket has no usable source for these (verified across all buckets and the full monster dump). The Poisonous flag — whether a monster can poison you — is unaffected.
So the immunities row set goes from Poison / Venom / Cannon / Thrall → Burn / Cannon / Thrall. Restoring the dropped fields from a secondary source is tracked in #30.
What's Changed
- Cut the data layer over to the OSRS Wiki Bucket API by @prettyrocket in #32 (closes #26)
- Shared MonsterStats view-model by @prettyrocket in #29

Better Monster Examine v1.2.1
Fixes plugin-hub packaging. The plugin now injects the client's Gson instead of constructing its own — the hub rejects fresh Gson instances as a terminally deprecated API, which is why the v1.2 hub update failed to package. No user-facing behaviour change otherwise.
Adds CI that runs the real plugin-hub packager verification on every PR and as a release gate, so this class of failure is caught before release.
