You do not need to create a specific CFML/ColdFusion application in order to use the features of this plugin. Any file that has a .CFM, .CFC, .CFS or .CFML extension will automatically enable all the features. You can clone an existing repository or create an Empty Project and everything will still work the same.
If you are starting a new CFML project from scratch, it is recommended to use the New Application wizard. This will template out your application.cfc, setup a base directory structure and enable features like Docker or Database integration
- Launch IntelliJ IDEA (make sure the plugin is already installed)
- On the welcome screen, click on the New Project... button.
- Select ColdFusion Application from the selection on the left.
- Name - This is the name that IntelliJ will call your project. It is not included your final project or source code
- Location - This is where your project folder will be located. This will include all of your project files (including your .git and other metadata folders), so it is not recommended that lives within your web or applicaiton server root.
- Create Git repository - Do you want the IDE to auto-setup a base GIT repository for you. You can always add the git metadata later.
- Application Name - This is the name of your CFML application. This is included in your source code and can be found in the application.cfc later on.
- Lucee Version - The version of the Lucee runtime to target.
- Docker-Enabled Project - Should the setup wizard build a Dockerfile and docker-compose.yml file for you. You can add these files later, and if you do select this, you can easily remove them.
- Include Database Server - If you selected that you want this project to be docker-enabled, you can include the docker compose components to include a database server. This option will also add items within your application.cfc as well as create other supporting files to support a database within the project.
- Database Type - Which database flavor do you wish to use for this project. Options include MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres and Microsoft SQL.
- Include Reverse Proxy - Do you want an http/https reverse proxy included in the project. This will setup the configuration and metadata for Traefik.
- Click Next to create the project.
