Package-manager releases go through a review step, so a new version can take a little while to show up there. The direct downloads are always the latest build.
- Launch TRACE. A menu opens with three tools: Live Dashboard, Lap Analyst and Race Analyst.
- Make sure your PC and your PS4/PS5 are on the same network.
- In the Live Dashboard, enter your console's IP address (or use Auto-Detect), then start a session in GT7.
- Record laps, then open them in Lap Analyst (19 chart groups, A/B lap compare, replay) or Race Analyst (17 chart groups, with Corners and Consistency tabs).
- Watch the STRATEGY (est.) panel in the Live Dashboard: fuel per lap, laps of fuel left, a finish check, a suggested pit-by lap, and an estimate of how your tyres are fading. GT7 doesn't send tyre wear, so the tyre figures are estimates. A refuel starts a new stint automatically; press [ NEW TYRES ] after a tyre-only stop. See the FAQ for what each number means.
- In Lap Analyst, click Export Lap Card (PNG) to turn a lap into a shareable 1200x630 image (car, track, lap time, top speed, fuel used, speed trace and speed-coloured track map). Race Analyst has a matching Export Race Card (PNG).
- Open the Corners, Theoretical and (Race Analyst) Consistency tabs to see where your time goes. After each lap the Dashboard log also names the three corners that cost you the most time, and VS TOP shows your live gap to the fastest public leaderboard lap for that car and track.
- Spoken fuel and tyre alerts, the update check and the top-lap ghost each have a checkbox in the Live Dashboard (VOICE ALERTS, CHECK FOR UPDATES, TOP-LAP GHOST). The Records link in the Launcher footer lists your best lap for every car and track. See the FAQ for details.
TRACE sends a heartbeat to the console on UDP port 33739 and receives telemetry on UDP port 33740. If nothing shows up, allow UDP 33740 through your firewall.
- Laps:
~/TRACE/laps - Settings:
~/.gt7telem - Run the Windows
.exeor Linux binary from a folder you can write to and it stays portable instead, keeping laps andsettings.jsonnext to it.
-
Windows SmartScreen warning: click More info then Run anyway.
TRACE.exeisn't code-signed yet (the SignPath Foundation application wasn't approved yet). -
macOS "unidentified developer": right-click
TRACE.app, choose Open, then Open again. Still refused? Runxattr -cr /Applications/TRACE.apponce. The macOS build is Apple Silicon only. -
Linux: run
chmod +x TRACE && ./TRACE. It needs glibc 2.35 or newer (Ubuntu 22.04+, Fedora 36+, Debian 12+) and a desktop session. -
No module named 'tkinter'(pip or source install): on Ubuntu/Debian runsudo apt install python3-tk. On macOS, use Python from python.org. - No data coming in: check the console IP, that both devices are on the same network and subnet, and that UDP 33740 isn't blocked by a firewall or VPN.
The Linux zip is signed with a dedicated GPG key. The public key is in the repo at gpg-signing-key/trace-public-key.asc.
gpg --import trace-public-key.asc
gpg --verify gt7telem-linux.zip.asc gt7telem-linux.zip
