Welcome to the Cadenza wiki. Cadenza is a desktop presentation app for Linux and Windows, built on reveal.js. These guides walk through making slides, adding data and media, animating a talk, and sharing it.

The screenshots and menu names use the English interface. Change the interface language in Menu > Settings… > Language; this does not translate your slides. Keyboard shortcuts use Ctrl on both supported platforms.

Start here

Start with How to install and update Cadenza, then follow How to make your first presentation. It covers the editor, themes, slide layouts and saving a .cadenza file. Frequently asked questions covers supported file formats, offline use and sharing.

The editor, with the slide list, toolbar, canvas, inspector and Play button marked

If you already have an outline, How to import a Markdown presentation turns it into editable slides.

Design and edit

A theme sets the presentation's fonts and colors. Layouts give each slide a starting arrangement; you can then move, resize and style its objects.

Add data and media

Charts, maps, equations and diagrams stay editable in Cadenza. Downloaded images and local video files travel with the presentation; online videos and live web pages need a connection when shown.

Animate

Builds reveal parts of one slide as you speak. Magic Move animates changes between consecutive slides, and motion paths move an object within a slide.

Present and share

Use the presenter display for your notes and teleprompter. Export a web presentation for playback without Cadenza, or a PDF for reading and printing.

Try the examples

The guides use a coffee-themed talk. The CSV files contain illustrative values, not research data, production statistics or measured confidence intervals. Save a linked file to your computer before opening it in Cadenza.

File Use it for
coffee-sales.csv Six months of sales, with one series for each drink
coffee-tasting.csv Scores with lower and upper error-bar ends
coffee-countries.csv A world map with one value per country
coffee-talk.md Four slides to import from Markdown
chart-gallery.cadenza Editable examples of all 19 chart types; the Chart gallery and data recipes page links each dataset
automatic-presentation.cadenza A three-slide presentation with a 6 / 10 / 6-second loop
coffee-background.svg A background image with space for text
title-accent.css A title-spacing and accent-line example for Custom CSS
