Integration
This page is for modpack authors using data packs to customize Create: Apparel's ingredient tags and gameplay rules.
Item tags are stored under data/<namespace>/tags/items/ in your data pack. For example, createapparel:threads/cotton corresponds to:
data/createapparel/tags/items/threads/cotton.json
Use "replace": false to add entries while keeping the existing contents. Use "replace": true only when you intend to replace the tag's lower-priority contents.
Add ingredients to the most specific material tag. Parent tags include their child tags automatically; adding an item only to a parent does not put it into a child tag used by a recipe.
| Item tag | Standard use |
|---|---|
createapparel:fibers/plant/cotton |
Spinning Machine input for Cotton Thread. |
createapparel:fibers/plant/flax |
Spinning Machine input for Linen Thread. |
createapparel:fibers/plant/hemp |
Spinning Machine input for Hemp Thread. |
createapparel:fibers/synthetic |
Spinning Machine input for Synthetic Thread. |
The classification hierarchy also includes createapparel:fibers, createapparel:fibers/plant, and createapparel:fibers/animal. The createapparel:fibers/animal/silk tag is empty by default and has no standard spinning recipe; the built-in silk recipe uses Cocoons directly.
Wool spinning uses minecraft:wool, rather than a separate wool-fiber tag.
Create data/createapparel/tags/items/fibers/plant/cotton.json:
{
"replace": false,
"values": [
{
"id": "examplemod:cotton_fiber",
"required": false
}
]
}Replace the example ID with the item from your pack. This lets the standard cotton spinning recipe accept that item and produce Create: Apparel Cotton Thread. It does not add a recipe for obtaining the external fiber.
"required": false allows the entry to be absent. For a pack that requires the item, you can instead use its ID as a plain string.
| Item tag | Material |
|---|---|
createapparel:threads/cotton |
Cotton |
createapparel:threads/linen |
Linen |
createapparel:threads/hemp |
Hemp |
createapparel:threads/wool |
Wool |
createapparel:threads/silk |
Silk |
createapparel:threads/synthetic |
Synthetic |
The corresponding Loom recipes accept four matching threads and produce one built-in undyed fabric. Add an external thread to the appropriate material tag to include it in that recipe.
The parent createapparel:threads tag contains all six material tags and minecraft:string. Sewing recipes that request this parent accept String as generic sewing thread. String is not in a material-specific thread tag by default, so this does not make it a Loom input.
To include an optional collection of cotton threads, add a nested tag entry to data/createapparel/tags/items/threads/cotton.json:
{
"replace": false,
"values": [
{
"id": "#examplepack:cotton_threads",
"required": false
}
]
}The # prefix refers to a tag instead of an individual item.
The parent createapparel:fabrics includes these material tags:
| Item tag | Material |
|---|---|
createapparel:fabrics/cotton |
Cotton |
createapparel:fabrics/linen |
Linen |
createapparel:fabrics/hemp |
Hemp |
createapparel:fabrics/wool |
Wool |
createapparel:fabrics/silk |
Silk |
createapparel:fabrics/leather |
Leather |
createapparel:fabrics/synthetic |
Synthetic |
Each built-in material tag contains its undyed fabric and all 33 dyed versions. Sewing recipes select their accepted material tags, but also require a recognized dyed-fabric item.
Adding an external item to fabrics/cotton, for example, does not give it a cotton material or a color. The current fabric attributes are built in; a tag-only data pack cannot add these attributes. For a data-pack solution, provide an explicit conversion recipe that produces a built-in fabric, then use the normal dyeing and sewing chain.
createapparel:dyeable_fabrics groups the built-in fabrics. Standard dyeing and decolorizing recipes list their accepted fabric items explicitly, so extending this tag alone does not extend those recipes.
createapparel:apparel_dyes groups the 17 additional dyes. Adding an item to it does not assign a palette color or create dyeing recipes. Customize the relevant recipes explicitly when introducing alternative dyes.
| Item tag | Built-in ingredient or inclusion |
|---|---|
createapparel:gems/diamond |
Diamond |
createapparel:gems/emerald |
Emerald |
createapparel:gems/amethyst |
Amethyst Shard |
createapparel:gems/ruby |
Redstone and optional forge:gems/ruby entries |
createapparel:gems/sapphire |
Lapis Lazuli and optional forge:gems/sapphire entries |
createapparel:gems/pearl |
Quartz |
createapparel:silver_accessory_nuggets |
Iron Nugget and optional forge:nuggets/silver entries |
Gem tags supply the Deployer recipes for Necklaces and Bracelets. Adding an ingredient changes which items can make the existing gem appearance; it does not create a new appearance.
The nugget tag supplies Silver Necklace Base and Silver Bracelet Base recipes. Extend the Create: Apparel tag directly when you want an ingredient accepted for jewelry without changing a shared material tag elsewhere in the pack.
createapparel:silkworm_food includes minecraft:leaves by default. It is used for feeding Silkworm larvae and as the standard Silkworm Rearing Tray recipe's food ingredient.
For example, add an alternative food in data/createapparel/tags/items/silkworm_food.json:
{
"replace": false,
"values": [
{
"id": "examplemod:mulberry_leaf",
"required": false
}
]
}The food tag does not change which leaf blocks can release Silkworms when broken.
| Item tag | Effect |
|---|---|
createapparel:recyclable_garments |
Inputs for the standard Crushing Wheels recipe that produces one Old Cloth. |
createapparel:citizen/lower_covering_tops |
Tops that also satisfy a Citizen's lower-body clothing requirement when worn in the Tops slot. |
The recycling tag excludes Glasses, Sunglasses, Watches, Necklaces, and Bracelets by default. The crushing recipe checks tag membership, so extending it deliberately makes additional items recyclable regardless of their material or color.
The coverage tag is intended for garments such as dresses. It does not make an arbitrary item wearable; the garment must already be valid for the Tops slot.
createapparel:citizen_walk_surfaces is a block tag at data/createapparel/tags/blocks/citizen_walk_surfaces.json. It is empty by default and currently does not control Citizen navigation. Adding blocks does not create a walking-surface whitelist or change route behavior.
Install the data pack in the world and run /reload with command permission, or restart the world or server. Check the reload log for missing entries and test the affected recipe or behavior in game. JEI helps inspect recipe ingredients.
Tags select accepted inputs; they do not provide acquisition recipes, textures, new material types, or new color values. Provide any additional recipes and resources your pack needs.
