Getting Started

There are two ways to get an Android app for your Selldone store: let Selldone App Builder build and sign it for you, or build it from this source code. This page helps you choose and gets you to a first build.

Choose your path

Selldone App Builder Build from source
Best for Merchants and agencies, no coding Android developers
You provide Name, title, icon, splash design, sign keys Code changes, keystore, build environment
Build and signing On Selldone servers On your machine or CI
Customization App Builder options Anything in the code

If you only need a store app, use the App Builder. Build from source when you need changes the App Builder does not offer.

Path A — App Builder

  1. Open the Selldone App Builder.
  2. Set the app name, title and icon, and design the splash screen.
  3. Build the app. Selldone builds it and signs it with your sign keys.
  4. Publish the signed app to the app stores.

Details: App Builder.

Path B — Build from source

Prerequisites

  • Android Studio with Android SDK 28 and build tools 28.0.3.
  • JDK 8 (the CI workflow uses Java 1.8).
  • A release keystore for signing.
  • Your shop username, e.g. mobile for https://selldone.com/@mobile.

Steps

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/selldone/selldone-android-shop.git
  2. Set your shop in app/src/main/res/values/shop_info.xml:

    <string name="app_name" translatable="false">My Store</string>
    <string name="shop_title" translatable="false">My Store</string>
    <string name="shop_name">mobile</string>
  3. In app/build.gradle, set applicationId, versionCode, versionName and manifestPlaceholders = [shopName: "mobile"] (same value as shop_name).

  4. Create keystore.properties in the project root with storeFile, storePassword, keyAlias and keyPassword. The build fails without it.

  5. Remove the proxy lines from gradle.properties if you do not use a proxy on 127.0.0.1:8090.

  6. Open the project in Android Studio and run it on a device, or build a signed release with gradlew assembleRelease.

Full instructions and troubleshooting: Build from Source.

Check that it works

  • The splash/loading view appears, then your shop's storefront loads.
  • The toolbar shows your shop title and icon once the PWA passes shop data to the app.
  • Tapping Login opens the shop login page in the browser and returns to the app after sign-in.
