Offline DAoC 0.37c (the new client, BETA)
Offline DAoC 0.37c, the new client (BETA)
Offline DAoC with two game clients: the original DAoC client and a new client built in the Godot 4 engine. Both play the same game: the same server, account, characters, bots and world.
0.37c is the first version that comes as an update. If you have 0.36c, you download only what changed (about 1.7 GB for the new client plus about 40 MB for the game) and keep your account, characters, bots and settings. It works with 0.37b (with the Sluaghbinder) and 0.37 (classic classes only; then the new client offers the classic classes only, like the original client).
How to update or install
- Download Download-OfflineDAoC-v0.37c.zip below (under Assets) into a new, empty folder with a short path, for example
C:\Games\OfflineDAoC. - Right-click the zip → Extract All…, and open the extracted folder.
- Close the Offline DAoC launchers and the game, then double-click GET-OFFLINE-DAOC-v0.37c.cmd.
- Press 1 = Update my game if you have 0.36c, 0.36b or 0.36, and choose your game folder. It updates the game and the new client, with every replaced file backed up (in
patch-backups) and put back if anything fails. If your game doesn't have the new client yet, it asks whether to add it (about 30 GB). - Press 2 = New install if you don't have the game, then 1 for 0.37 (classic classes only) or 2 for 0.37b (with the Sluaghbinder). It downloads the complete game (about 5 GB) and the new client (about 30 GB in checked parts) into one new folder and updates both. Allow about 60 GB of free space while it installs. If it stops, run it again and press the same numbers: it continues.
- Press 1 = Update my game if you have 0.36c, 0.36b or 0.36, and choose your game folder. It updates the game and the new client, with every replaced file backed up (in
- In the game folder, double-click START OFFLINE DAOC - NEW CLIENT.cmd → START SERVER → wait for RUNNING → ENTER REALM. The launcher shows VERSION 0.37c. START OFFLINE DAOC.cmd still plays with the original client (it needs the Windows feature .NET Framework 3.5; the new client doesn't).
Use one launcher at a time: both start and stop the same server.
You need a 64-bit Windows 10 or 11 PC with an AVX2 CPU, a graphics card that supports Vulkan or DirectX 12 with current drivers, and 16 GB RAM (recommended). The finished install takes about 45 GB.
Coming from 0.35 or older? Install 0.37c (press 2), then run IMPORT PROGRESS FROM OLD OFFLINE DAOC.cmd in the game folder once; both clients then have your progress. Transfer guide.
The new client is in BETA: if something looks or behaves differently from the original client, please report it in Bug reports, with a screenshot if you can. Guide: NEW-CLIENT.md. Its source code is in source/new-client.
What's new in 0.37
- The new client: the guild window, guild emblems and the emblem picker, the release window's four choices, the trainer's specialization preview, combat style trails as in the original client, stable rides seated on the mount, monsters at their proper height, Half Ogre, Frostalf and Shar NPCs as their races, ground-target spells, fewer hitches when spell effects first appear, and more (see the changelog's new client section).
- Guilds: form a guild on your own at a Guild Registrar (
/gc form <name>) and invite your realm's gamebots (/gc invite). Guild bots show the guild name, wear its emblem on cloak and shield, and chat in guild chat. - Sieges, raids and bots: siege armies attack together and raise their fallen during the battle; raids get further in Caer Sidi and Galladoria; bot groups travel as one pack; far less lag on a busy server.
- Quests and items: every classic quest can be started by talking to its giver again; 22 weapons, shields and armour pieces that were drawn as a bag now look like what they are.
