@snelstim snelstim released this 18 Oct 07:36

Beta, everything from v0.12.9 plus:

Fixed

  • The ring / graph button now only changes the card or probe tile you press it on. Before, one choice was shared, so switching one probe tile switched every tile in the card (and any other card using the same entity). Each probe tile and each card now remembers its own choice in the browser. Changing view in the card configuration still takes priority over a saved choice. (Two cards with exactly the same configuration share their saved choice when the page is reloaded.)

After updating

  • Hard-refresh the browser, or reset the Companion app's frontend cache, so the new card loads.

Beta, everything from v0.12.8 plus:

Fixed

  • Bread no longer gets a pull-from-heat alert. The card told a bread baker to take a sourdough out at about 85 °C for a 93 °C target, because the pull point assumed the coasting you get with meat. A loaf does not coast: it has to reach its target in the oven. Bread now shows no pull alert and no pull line on the graph, and the target is the point to take it out.
  • Bread is no longer mistaken for 'resting' when the oven door is opened or the oven is turned off before the loaf reaches the target, which could finish the cook early.

Notes

  • The bread presets' bake temperatures are unchanged (for example sourdough 93 °C). If you prefer a higher crumb temperature, set a custom target.

Beta, everything from v0.12.7 plus:

Changed

  • Graph view polish (based on feedback from a real dashboard).
    • The graph is now drawn at the size it is shown, so the text and lines are no longer scaled up on a wide card: labels are small and the lines thin. It redraws when the card is resized.
    • The current temperature is shown next to the "now" dot, with dotted guide lines from the dot to the temperature and time axes and the current time on the time axis.
    • The ETA time is centred under the forecast's end marker (it was right-aligned when the ETA was near the edge of the chart).
    • The temperature history (and the ambient line) is smoothed. The newest reading is kept exactly, so the line always ends on the true current value.

After updating

  • Hard-refresh the browser, or reset the Companion app's frontend cache, so the new card loads.

Beta, everything from v0.12.6 plus:

Changed

  • Retrained prediction model, with bread. Trained on 253 cooks (36 more shared cooks than before, including the first five bread bakes). Bread now has its own category, cut type and baked doneness in the model instead of being treated as a generic cook, so a bread estimate is fitted to how a loaf actually bakes. On the held-out bread bakes the average error fell from about 10 to 5 minutes; for other cooks the model was not trained on, accuracy is about the same as before (median about 10 minutes).
  • The README's accuracy section is reworded: the replay figures are measured on cooks that are mostly in the training data, so they are a best case. It now also states the result on cooks the model had not seen.

Notes

  • Five bread bakes (four brioche, one sourdough) is a small sample: yeasted, rye and with-inclusions loaves share one bread code until there is enough data to tell them apart. Please keep sharing your cooks.

Beta, everything from v0.12.5 plus:

Added

  • Graph view. Set view: graph on the card (visual editor → General → Cook display), or tap the new button in the corner of the card or a probe tile to switch between the ring and the graph. The choice is remembered in the browser until you change view in the card configuration.
    • The graph shows the probe's temperature since the cook started, with a dashed forecast to the target and the ETA on the time axis.
    • The shaded band is the earliest and latest forecast: the earliest and latest finish time the card has predicted over the last 10 minutes (never narrower than ±1 min or wider than ±50 % of the time remaining). A thick bar on the target line marks that window and the exact times are written under the chart.
    • The target (it steps if you change it mid-cook), the pull temperature and the ambient temperature are drawn and labelled on the chart.
    • In combined mode the graph follows the slowest probe, the one that sets the countdown, and says which one it is.
    • It is shown while a probe is cooking, not while collecting data or after the cook is done.
  • New read-only websocket command probe_ability/history that feeds the graph (recorded readings, target history and forecast). The integration manifest now lists websocket_api as a dependency.

Changed

  • The new card strings are English only for now; they show in English in Dutch and Romanian until translated on Weblate.

v0.12.5

@snelstim snelstim released this 02 Oct 09:49

Everything since v0.12.3:

Added

  • Ambient temperature in Live Activities (#11). The ambient (pit / oven) temperature is shown next to the probe temperature (63.5°C · 118°), so it stays visible on the iOS lock screen and Dynamic Island while the countdown runs, and at the end of the message text (… · ambient 118°). It updates silently when the ambient moves 2 °C or more. On by default; turn it off under ⋮ → Configure — the change applies right away without interrupting a running cook.

Changed

  • The first estimate shows up sooner on fast cooks. Instead of always collecting data for 10 minutes, Probe-ability now starts estimating after 5 minutes once the probe is rising steadily (5 °C, or 15 % of the way to the target). Hot-and-fast cooks and breads get their first estimate in about half the time. Normal cooks still start at 10 minutes; if the probe has barely moved by then, it waits up to 15 minutes so the first estimate isn't pure noise.
  • The card shows a single progress bar while collecting, and "Waiting for the temperature to rise…" when it is holding off for a flat probe.
  • Updated Dutch and Romanian translations (thanks to the Weblate contributors). The new ambient setting shows in English in those languages until it is translated on Weblate.

Measured by replaying 80 shared cooks: cooks under 45 minutes got their first estimate after 5.4 instead of 10.2 minutes, 45-minute to 3-hour cooks after 7.1 instead of 10.6 minutes, with later estimates unchanged. The early estimates are low-confidence and move around a bit more, as before.

After updating

  • Hard-refresh the browser, or reset the Companion app's frontend cache, so the new card loads.

v0.12.3

Choose a tag to compare

@snelstim snelstim released this 30 Sep 08:52

Everything since v0.11.6.

Added

  • Bread presets 🍞. A new Bread category in the card: Yeasted (95 °C), Sourdough (93 °C), Enriched — brioche, cozonac (88 °C), Rye (96 °C) and With Inclusions (98 °C). Pick the bread and the target is set; there is no doneness step. The model has not been trained on bread yet, so bread cooks use the generic profile that already predicted a test bake well. Sharing your bread cooks helps a future model learn it.
  • Romanian translation (thanks to the Weblate contributor).

Changed

  • Every string is now translated from one file per language (translations/<lang>.json): the card, the preset names, the Live Activity text and the auto-stop notification join the config flow and entity names that were already there. Translations are managed on Weblate; adding a language is described in docs/TRANSLATIONS.md.
  • The card fetches its strings from Home Assistant instead of shipping its own table, so it always follows your Home Assistant language.
  • Backend text (Live Activities, notifications) follows the server language and switches when you change it in Settings → System → General, without a restart.
  • cook_presets.json no longer carries per-language labels; the preset names come from the translation files, keyed by preset id.

Fixed

  • Reconfigure now really removes a cleared probe or probe name. Clearing an optional probe in ⋮ → Reconfigure used to keep the old sensor behind the scenes; the probe and its entities are now gone after saving.
  • Ready for Home Assistant 2026.12. The Reconfigure dialog no longer reloads the integration itself (Home Assistant deprecates that for integrations with an options listener and will refuse it from 2026.12). Nothing changes for you: saving Reconfigure still reloads, and changing Live Activity devices still applies without interrupting a running cook.

After updating

  • Hard-refresh the browser, or reset the Companion app's frontend cache, so the new card and presets load.
