GitBob 0.6.0
GitBob 0.6.0 brings GitKraken-style menus, icons throughout, and committing just the files you pick. Still an early alpha: keep your usual backups and pushes.
What's new
- Full right-click menus on commits, local branches and remote branches (in the graph and the sidebar):
- Commits: checkout, worktree, branch, cherry pick, rebase onto, reset, revert, copy SHA or link, save as patch, compare with your working directory, tag or annotated tag.
- On your current branch: edit a commit message, drop a commit, move commits up or down, interactive rebase from there (Undo can take any of it back).
- Local branches: pull or push even when not checked out, fast-forward, merge either way, rebase onto, worktree, rename, delete, copy links, hide, solo.
- Remote branches: rebase / interactive rebase onto, merge, checkout, worktree, delete on the server.
- Commit only selected files: ⌘/Ctrl-click or Shift-click files in Working changes, then stage, unstage, discard, stash, or Commit N selected files; everything else stays as it was.
- Icons: toolbar buttons with icons, sidebar section and branch icons, repository icons on tabs.
- Fixes: long menus fit in small windows, a clear "Showing only … · Show all" bar while the graph is filtered, menu items no longer go missing after rewriting history, and copying works even when the window isn't focused.

GitBob 0.5.0
GitBob 0.5.0 brings a GitKraken-style graph and sidebar, profiles, and a lot of everyday polish. Still an early alpha: keep your usual backups and pushes.
What's new
- Profiles: separate settings, open repositories, recent list, connected accounts and Git name/email per profile (e.g. work and personal). Switch from 👤 in the top-right corner; manage them in Settings → Profile.
- Branch labels that tell you where a branch lives: a 💻 laptop means it's on your computer, the remote's project icon means it's on the server. Local and remote share one label when they match, and sit on separate commits when you have unpushed work. Labels now have their own Branch / Tag column.
- Author avatars as commit dots (from GitHub for GitHub repositories, initials otherwise; Gravatar is opt-in in Settings → Avatars).
- Resizable columns, a ⚙ menu to hide them, full messages on hover, and the real commit total while history loads.
- Hide branches from the graph with the 👁 in the sidebar, a filter box for branches (⌥⌘F / Ctrl+Alt+F), and collapsed sections docked at the bottom.
- Issues section for GitHub, GitLab and Bitbucket.
- Toolbar: click the repository or branch name to switch; new Stash, Pop, Terminal, Search and Actions buttons.
- Commit details: a banner when you have uncommitted changes, author picture, Path / Tree file list and All files.
- Status bar with the latest message, zoom (also ⌘+ / ⌘− / ⌘0) and the version.
- Clearer pull request errors for organization repositories, with a button to request access.

GitBob 0.4.0
GitBob 0.4.0 makes everyday work smoother: commit message helpers, editing files in place, and more you can do with stashes. Still an early alpha: keep your usual backups and pushes.
What's new
- Commit message helpers: your unfinished message is kept per repository,
commit.templatefills in an empty message, long summaries and trailing periods get a gentle hint, a type picker appears in projects that use Conventional Commits, and Add co-author… adds aCo-authored-by:line for recent committers. - Edit files in the app: click Edit above a working-tree diff, fix the file, then Save or Save and stage (⌘S / Ctrl+S). GitBob won't overwrite a file that another program changed in the meantime.
- More with stashes: right-click a changed file to stash just that one; in a stash, Apply file brings back a single file (the stash is kept), Branch… turns the stash into a new branch, and untracked files saved in a stash now show their content.
- Fixed: typing quickly in the conflict editor could drop characters.
- Tested on Windows end to end: the full suite that drives the real app now runs on Windows too, including the HTTPS sign-in prompts.

GitBob 0.3.0
GitBob 0.3.0 adds undo, drag and drop, file history, line comments in pull request reviews, and makes large repositories faster. Still an early alpha: keep your usual backups and pushes.
What's new
- Undo / Redo (toolbar, ⌥⌘Z / ⇧⌥⌘Z): take back the last commit, amend, checkout, branch or tag change, reset, cherry-pick, revert, merge, pull or rebase you did in GitBob. Undo never overwrites uncommitted work and refuses if the repository changed in the meantime.
- Merge and rebase: right-click a branch to merge it into your current branch or rebase onto it, or drag a branch onto your current branch. Drag a commit onto it to cherry-pick.
- File history: every commit that changed a file, following renames, with each commit's change (History button in any diff, or right-click a file in a commit).
- Sign in with GitHub now works out of the box: GitBob shows a short code, you approve it on github.com.
- Line comments in pull request reviews: comments appear under their lines in the Files tab; hover a line and click + to add one (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps).
- Clone from your repositories: with an account connected, Clone… lists your repositories from GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket and Azure DevOps. Type to search, tick Use SSH if you prefer.
- Faster on big repositories: measured on the VS Code repository (192k commits): working-changes refresh 1.5 s → 0.14 s after a fresh clone, and a one-click Speed up history makes the history open in 0.65 s instead of 1.65 s.

GitBob 0.2.0
GitBob 0.2.0 brings pull request reviews into the app, Git LFS, and in-app updates. Still an early alpha: keep your usual backups and pushes.
What's new
- Pull requests in the app: open a pull request to read its description, comments, reviewers and CI status; see every changed file; comment, Approve or Request changes; and merge (merge, squash or rebase). GitBob asks first and refuses if new commits were pushed since you looked.
- Branch folders:
feature/loginshows asfeature › login, and remote branches nest under their remote. Folders can be collapsed. - Git LFS: see tracked patterns, track or untrack file types, set up LFS and download missing files. You're warned if a repository uses LFS but git-lfs isn't installed.
- Binary and delete conflicts: pick which whole version to keep instead of a line-by-line editor that can't work for them.
- Staged renames show as
old → newwith their content change. - First run: GitBob checks that Git works, helps you set your name and email, and shows a few tips you can hide.
- In-app updates on Windows and Linux (AppImage): Settings → About → Check for updates → Download and install → Restart and install. On macOS GitBob tells you about a new version and opens the download (unsigned macOS apps can't update themselves).
- Sign in with GitHub (device flow) is built in, but needs a GitHub OAuth app client id in Settings → GitHub sign-in; access tokens still work as before.

GitBob 0.1.0 (alpha)
The first public build of GitBob, a free desktop Git client. This is an early alpha: it's careful with your work (risky actions ask first, discarded new files go to the Trash, hard resets save a backup), but keep your usual backups and pushes.
