Terms used across the code, the docs and this wiki. The operator guide, the system-briefing skill, defines most of them for users.
| Term | Meaning | Where to look |
|---|---|---|
| Iron Law | "No claim without evidence; no fix without a proven root cause." The core of the protocol | AGENTS.md |
| verify-first | The protocol text anti-hall injects at session start, on each prompt and when a subagent starts |
hooks/verify-first-*.js; docs/GUIDE.md
|
| guard | A hook that blocks mechanically on a dangerous form, for example git-guard (force pushes, AI credit lines) or command-guard
|
plugins/anti-hall/hooks/ |
| advisory / nudge | Injected text that informs the agent but never blocks | system-briefing skill |
| fail-open | A hook that hits an internal error exits 0 and does not block | CONTRIBUTING.md |
| skip.json | A time-limited per-guard override in ~/.anti-hall/skip.json, written only on the user's explicit request |
system-briefing skill |
| settings | Every feature's switch, in ~/.anti-hall/settings.json, changed through /anti-hall:settings; the schema is hooks/lib/settings-schema.js
|
CONTRIBUTING.md |
| headline switch | One of the 10 settings shown on Claude Code's plugin options screen; everything else is in /anti-hall:settings
|
tests/hooks/settings-schema.test.js |
| doctor | The health check and repair tool (/anti-hall:doctor, hooks/doctor.js --check) |
skills/doctor/ |
| handover | A self-written, lossless record of a session, so a fresh session can resume cold; suggested automatically near the context limit | skills/handover/ |
| deadly loop | Reviewer, auditor and critic debate and fix in rounds until no new P0 or P1 finding appears; used before risky merges | skills/deadly-loop/ |
| ship-it | The skill that scales planning, review and phased building to the size of a change | skills/ship-it/ |
| root-cause | The debugging discipline: no fix without a proven cause | skills/root-cause/ |
| coordinator / worker | The main thread plans and verifies; subagents (workers) do the heavy work | system-briefing skill |
| Jev | An optional LLM classifier some checks can consult for judgement calls; never the only gate | docs/KB-jev-classifier.md |
| on / shadow / off | Jev's mode per integration: it changes the outcome / it is only logged / it is not asked | system-briefing skill |
| statusline | The opt-in status bar in the terminal | plugins/anti-hall/statusline/ |
| companion | An optional background add-on installed separately, such as the DevSwarm supervisor or ingest | plugins/anti-hall/companion/ |
| OMC / OMX | Third-party orchestration layers: oh-my-claudecode for Claude, and its Codex counterpart. anti-hall keeps parity across both | docs/KB-omc.md, docs/KB-omx.md |
| Codex port | The Codex version of the plugin, under plugins/anti-hall/codex/
|
AGENTS.md |
| dual-platform parity | The rule that every change covers both the Claude plugin and the Codex port | Development workflow |
| ah-engine / the engine | The resident Rust daemon that answers hooks on the engine-proto branch |
Architecture |
| thin trigger |
hooks/ah-hook.sh: the one generated hook command per event that hands the call to the engine, or to the Node hooks |
Architecture |
| dispatch table |
engine/defaults/dispatch.toml: which checks and Node hooks answer each event; hooks.json is generated from it |
Architecture |
| defer (exit 75) | The engine's answer when it cannot decide exactly; the Node hook then decides | Architecture |
| Node fallback | A temporary compatibility fallback: the Node hooks run in place of the engine when it is missing, defers, times out or crashes; removed in v1.0 | Architecture |
| defaults.pristine | A read-only, byte-identical copy of the engine's shipped defaults, used for failover and self-heal | Engine internals |
| no-hardcoding rule | Nothing tunable lives in engine source or the binary; it lives in plugin config files. Enforced by tests | Engine internals |
| scripted check | A check whose decision is plugin JavaScript (engine/logic/<check>.js) run in the engine's QuickJS sandbox |
Engine internals |
| golden | A frozen case (input and exact expected output) a check must reproduce; per check in ah-engine/tests/golden/, per parity lane in ah-engine/tests/goldens/
|
Engine internals |
| parity lane | A test group that compares the engine's answers with the Node hook's, from recorded or live Node runs | Engine internals |
| replay | Re-running recorded real hook payloads through the engine and the Node hooks and comparing the answers; done before a release | Engine internals |
| shadow | A mode in which a new check runs beside the Node hook, which still decides, and agreement is logged | docs/DEVELOPMENT.md |
| lane | A named, parallel stream of engine work; DECISIONS.md revision entries name the lane that made them | ah-engine/DECISIONS.md |
| spill-to-file | What the host does with hook context over about 10,000 characters: the whole value goes to a file, with only a short preview inline | Decision log |
| DevSwarm / hivecontrol | A multi-workspace IDE, and its command-line tool | DevSwarm |
| Primary / child | The DevSwarm workspace on the main checkout that orchestrates, and the workspaces it spawns | DevSwarm |
| mesh | The per-project message store all DevSwarm workspaces of a repository share | DevSwarm |
| roster | The view of a project's registered workspaces, their status and unread mail | DevSwarm |
| supervisor | The background sweep that checks workspace liveness, nudges, escalates and auto-archives | DevSwarm |
| ingest | The daemon that drains DevSwarm's native message queue into the mesh | DevSwarm |
| finish gates |
done, merged and tests_passed: what a child must report before it counts as finished |
DevSwarm |
| dogfooding | Running anti-hall while developing it and treating every message it produces as test output | Development workflow |
dev / main / engine-proto |
The working branch, the released branch users install from, and the engine integration branch | Development workflow |
| rc tag |
rc-vX.Y.Z: a release-candidate tag that runs the full CI matrix |
Release runbook |
| rules-first | Repo automation decides with plain rules; a model is optional and only adds research, wording or an escalation | Repo automation |
| model chain | Claude primary, Claude secondary, Copilot, then rules only; per-job models come from .github/moderation/config.json
|
Repo automation |
| lean PR CI | The reduced pull-request test matrix (Node 24); the full matrix runs on tags, main and weekly |
Development workflow |
| rc tag |
rc-vX.Y.Z[.N]: a release candidate tag that runs the full CI matrix |
Release runbook |
| immutable tag | A v* or ah-engine-v* tag that a ruleset forbids moving or deleting |
Release runbook |
| roadmap manager | The roadmap.yml job that syncs the project board and posts the weekly digest |
