Template: Decision

How to use this template: for a decision too small for a full Template: Design note, copy the block below into a new row of the Decision log (or into an issue or discussion comment). Use one row per decision. A decision that replaces an earlier one says so in its own row; the old row stays.

- **Consequences:** <what changes for users and contributors; what we give up>
- **Supersedes:** <earlier decision, or "none">
- **Source:** <issue #n / commit sha / file>

Rules

• Write it when the decision is made, not later.
• Cite the source: an issue, a commit, or a file in the repository.
• Public wiki: no private paths, emails, or names of people or projects.
