Patter v0.6.8
Patter 0.6.8
Patter 0.6.8
System audio now uses the macOS audio-only capture API, and recording permissions refresh correctly.
- Replace ScreenCaptureKit with private Core Audio taps for computer audio, retaining a separate microphone track. No screen/window enumeration, video capture, screen permission request or screen-permission gate.
- Use System Audio Recording Only and its usage description. macOS checks that grant when you explicitly start recording. Patter no longer incorrectly labels it denied using the separate screen permission, or asks for a screen grant when audio is already enabled.
- Settings refreshes microphone status on foreground, visibility changes and Check again. Denied microphone access opens settings; restricted access cannot be requested. Concurrent checks share an in-flight read and never reuse a settled permission result or overlap a consent request.
- Preserve selected meeting linkage, chunk offsets, file finalization and the existing automatic transcript/summary pipeline. Failed starts/stops release acquired resources; partial/empty captures do not fabricate audio.
- Packaging gates require audio-only usage descriptions and Core Audio linkage without ScreenCaptureKit.
Current releases remain ad-hoc signed. Code identity changes can still require fresh microphone/system-audio/calendar grants after upgrades. This fix does not guarantee permission continuity; stable Developer ID signing needs an Apple signing identity that is not configured. No TCC reset, new credentials or permission changes are performed.
Validated with frontend/native regressions, synthetic audio file finalization and failure cleanup, mocked permission-refresh UI, builds and signed bundle inspection. Actual microphone/system-audio capture, macOS consent and upgrade permission continuity remain unverified. Existing recordings are not processed or modified automatically.

Download the DMG, drag Patter to Applications, eject the DMG, then open Patter from Applications. This personal build is ad-hoc signed, without Apple notarization. If macOS blocks it, use the app-specific Open Anyway option in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Updates: Settings → General → Updates → Install and restart. Existing 0.1.0 installations need one manual replacement. Libraries remain local to each Mac. Live capture and real model inference still need a supervised test before relying on Patter for important meetings.
Patter v0.6.7
Patter 0.6.7
Recording now keeps the chosen conversation or calendar meeting, and upcoming meetings refresh when returning to Patter.
- Record from a selected conversation or directly from an upcoming meeting. The confirmation names where the audio will be saved.
- Repeated clicks cannot start duplicate recordings or create duplicate calendar conversations. Failed starts show an inline error and can retry in the same conversation.
- Interrupted recordings retain a recovery action. Additional recordings append to the conversation's existing audio timeline and preserve earlier notes and transcripts.
- Successfully finalized recordings automatically transcribe with the selected local transcription model, then generate the existing summary, decisions and action items using the configured local summary model and template.
- Processing progress and failures are visible. Resume after reopening Patter, or retry only the summary after a summary failure, without transcribing the same audio again. Empty, failed or interrupted captures do not automatically start processing; transcripts with no speech or insufficient content skip automatic summaries.
- Upcoming meetings support foreground and manual refresh, retain the last good list when Calendar cannot refresh, expose more meetings, and preserve invitation-derived join links.
Validated with 119 automated tests, app and documentation builds, packaged signature/entitlement checks, and desktop/compact UI flows using synthetic meetings, audio and model responses. Real audio capture, live Calendar fetching and actual model inference remain separate supervised verification tasks. Existing providers and preferences are unchanged; existing recordings are not automatically processed on launch.

Patter v0.6.6
Patter 0.6.6
Patter now checks recording permissions on launch and offers a compact setup dialog when access is missing.
- Allow microphone and computer-audio access before recording.
- Open the matching macOS settings when access was denied.
- Include Calendar and notification access when those features are enabled.
- Recheck when returning from settings, or choose Later to dismiss setup until the next launch.
Permission checks never start a recording or create a conversation. Unpackaged development builds skip launch setup.
Validated with 107 automated tests, app and documentation builds, packaged signature/entitlement checks, and browser interactions using simulated permission responses. Live macOS consent and capture still need a supervised check.

Patter v0.6.5
Patter 0.6.5
- Simplify Settings with shorter labels and less repeated setup text.
- Keep recording permission shortcuts under Permissions help, beside Enable recording access.
- Show one calendar connection message and one Import audio action on empty transcripts.
- Collapse update release notes under What’s new while keeping errors and privacy notices visible.
- Update the guide to match the cleaner interface.
Validation: 43 frontend tests, frontend/docs builds, browser interactions and compact-window layout checks passed locally. This release changes the interface only; live macOS consent prompts and recording reliability still need a supervised check.

Patter v0.6.4
Patter 0.6.4
- Join Google Meet and Zoom calls from Upcoming, calendar-linked conversations, and meeting reminders. Joining does not start recording.
- Enable microphone and computer-audio access from Settings → General → Recording without creating a conversation or capturing audio.
- Fix the missing microphone entitlement on the app and recording helper. Permission errors now explain how to recover in macOS Settings.
- Stabilise the local-model test server on macOS by waiting for incoming request data.
- Check the shipped app/helper signatures, entitlements, and consent descriptions before publishing each release.
Validation: 96 automated tests, frontend/docs builds, packaged app signing checks, and browser layout checks passed locally. Fresh macOS consent prompts and the real browser/Zoom handoff remain unverified; test a short recording before relying on capture for a meeting.

Patter v0.6.2
Patter 0.6.2
Fixed in 0.6.2
- Adds the Calendar entitlement required by macOS Hardened Runtime. Its absence in earlier releases could prevent the consent prompt and leave Patter missing from Privacy & Security → Calendars. Patter remains ad-hoc signed; Apple notarization is not required for this fix.
- Release checks now inspect the built app's signature for the Calendar entitlement and its full-access usage description before publication.
Simpler Settings
- Five focused tabs: General, Calendar, Models, Library and Agents.
- Shorter labels, fewer repeated explanations and expandable setup help.
- Save controls stay visible while the current tab scrolls. Switching tabs preserves unsaved edits, model downloads and backup state.
- Arrow keys, Home and End navigate the tabs. Connection and backup errors remain beside their controls.
- Updated setup and installation guides match the new locations.
Updating
In an older Patter version, open Settings → Updates → Install and restart. In this version, Updates is under Settings → General. You can also download the DMG and replace the app in Applications. Existing conversations, recordings, settings and history are retained.
After updating, use Settings → Calendar → Connect calendar. If needed, expand Connection help for macOS Calendar permissions and Google account setup. Google Calendar must be enabled in macOS Internet Accounts, with events visible in Apple Calendar.
Verification
The user confirmed that Calendar consent worked in a packaged local test build with the corrected entitlement. The new bundle check passes for that build and rejects the published 0.6.1 app as a negative control.
Frontend tests, production build and documentation build passed locally. In-app browser checks covered all five tabs, keyboard navigation, saved preferences after closing and reopening Settings, and compact layouts without horizontal overflow. Native download and backup flows were not rerun for the Settings rearrangement. Release CI runs the Rust and frontend suites and verifies the bundle, updater signature and published asset checksums.
Patter remains a personal preview for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 15+, without Apple notarization. Live capture and model reliability across devices remain separate checks. Google Drive may need reconnecting after an ad-hoc-signed update; reuse your original Google Desktop OAuth setup JSON.

Patter v0.6.1
Patter 0.6.1
Fixed in 0.6.1
- Calendar permission requests and event reads now run inside Patter instead of its separate recording helper, so macOS can associate Calendar access with the app.
- Calendar and notification errors appear beside their controls instead of at the bottom of Settings.
- Calendar permission status distinguishes access that has not been requested, denied access, write-only access and restrictions. Check again refreshes the status without requesting access.
- Settings includes shortcuts to Calendar, Notifications, Microphone and Screen & System Audio permissions, plus help connecting Google calendars through Internet Accounts.
- Calendar access is requested only when connecting explicitly; starting the app does not prompt for Calendar access.
- App and recording-helper metadata are separate so test builds can use their own app identity. The production bundle identifier and recording helper identity remain unchanged.
Connect your calendar
After updating, open Settings → Calendar → Connect calendar. If macOS asks, allow full access; Patter only reads your events. If access was previously denied, use Calendar permissions to enable Patter, then return and reconnect. Patter appears in macOS Calendar permissions after requesting access; there is no manual add button.
Google Calendar must be enabled for your Google account in macOS Internet Accounts. Check that meetings appear in Apple Calendar first. Meeting reminders still require Patter to remain running.
Updating and verification
Use Settings → Updates → Install and restart, or download the DMG. Existing conversations, recordings, settings and history are retained. As with previous ad-hoc-signed updates, Google Drive may need reconnecting with your original Google Desktop OAuth setup JSON.
All 50 Rust tests and 11 frontend tests passed locally, as did the frontend build and packaged native build. Browser checks verified the revised Settings layout and expandable setup guidance without console errors. Release CI tests and builds the app, verifies its updater signature and checks uploaded artifact checksums before publication.
The actual macOS Calendar consent prompt and successful Calendar connection have not been verified end to end: native UI automation stalled during the packaged-app check. This release does not claim that final permission test passed. Patter remains a personal preview for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 15+, without Apple notarization.

Patter v0.6.0
Patter 0.6.0
New in 0.6.0
- Adjust the interface from 75% to 200% with ⌘+ / ⌘− / ⌘0, the View menu, or Settings → Appearance → Zoom. Patter remembers the level on each Mac.
- Get meeting reminders while Patter is running, including in the background. Calendar events refresh every minute; reminders are checked every ten seconds.
- Configure the lead time, calendars, sound and meeting-title visibility in Settings → Calendar. Reminders are off by default. Google calendars work through your Mac's Calendar accounts.
- Open meeting notes or choose Record… from a reminder. Recording requires confirmation in Patter and reuses the meeting's existing conversation when available.
- All-day, cancelled and declined meetings are skipped. Delivered occurrences are remembered across restarts to avoid repeated reminders.
Set up reminders
Connect your calendar in Patter Settings, enable Meeting reminders, allow macOS notifications, choose your options and Save. Use Test notification to check delivery without accessing a calendar or automatically recording audio. macOS notification permission must be granted on each Mac; Focus and notification settings can suppress banners or sound.
Keep Patter running. Reminders do not run after quitting or while your Mac sleeps. After waking, upcoming meetings and meetings that started less than a minute ago can still produce a reminder.
Updating
Use Settings → Updates → Install and restart, or download the DMG below. Conversations, recordings, preferences and history are retained. Reminder settings are included in library backups; zoom is saved separately on each Mac. As with previous ad-hoc-signed updates, Google Drive may need reconnecting with your original Google Desktop OAuth setup JSON.
Verification and limits
Nine frontend tests and 47 Rust tests passed locally, together with the production frontend build. Native checks covered zoom shortcuts, notification permission and submission, the synthetic reminder card, recording confirmation and opening meeting notes. The packaged QA app passed its signature check. Release CI tests and builds the app, verifies the updater signature, and checks uploaded artifact checksums before publication.
Real calendar-triggered delivery and clicking the macOS notification banner's Record action have not been verified end to end. No real meeting audio was recorded during these checks. Patter remains a personal preview for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 15+, without Apple notarization.
Personal preview for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 15+. No Apple notarization. See the release page for installation instructions and verification limits.
Download the DMG, drag Patter to Applications, eject the DMG, then open Patter from Applications. This personal build is ad-hoc signed, without Apple notarization. If macOS blocks it, use the app-specific Open Anyway option in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Updates: Settings → Updates → Install and restart. Existing 0.1.0 installations need one manual replacement. Libraries remain local to each Mac. Live capture, Calendar permissions and real model inference still need a supervised test before relying on Patter for important meetings.
Patter v0.5.0
Patter 0.5.0
New in 0.5.0
- Connect Codex, Claude Desktop, Claude Code and other local MCP clients to Patter. The server is built into the Mac app; no extra runtime or network listener is needed.
- Nine tools for conversation search, notes/summaries/transcripts, version history, edits, summary templates, local processing, job status, navigation and app status.
- Agent access starts off. Enable library reading in Settings, with separate permissions for edits and local transcription/summaries. Keep Patter open while connected.
- Agent edits preserve recordings and version history. Revision checks reject conflicting edits; unsaved local drafts can be saved as separate conversations. Saved agent changes are attributed in history.
- Shorter Settings labels and fewer repeated explanations.
- Setup guides for Codex and Claude, including a copyable prompt to configure a local coding client while preserving existing settings.
Connect an agent
Open Settings → Agent access, enable Read entire library, then expand Connection setup. Follow the setup guide for your client.
Permissions apply to all connected agents under your Mac account. Read access includes archives and old versions. Cloud agents may send returned text to their model provider; Patter's own transcription and summaries remain local. Agents cannot delete data, start recording, access credentials or restore backups. Permission changes prevent running agent jobs from saving their results.
Updating
Existing conversations, recordings, preferences and history are retained. Agent access must be enabled separately on each Mac. As with previous ad-hoc-signed updates, Google Drive may need reconnecting with your original Google Desktop OAuth setup JSON. Backup history and schedules are preserved.
Verification and limits
Seven frontend tests and 44 Rust tests passed locally, alongside the production frontend build, native bundle signature checks, an official MCP SDK client and packaged-helper smoke tests. Checks covered permissions, concurrent edits, preserved audio/history, local fixture-model processing and native UI refresh/recovery. Release CI also tests, builds and verifies the updater signature and artifact checksums before publication.
The actual Codex/Claude client connection test was intentionally skipped for this release. Model-processing smoke tests used a local fixture; these checks do not establish long-meeting accuracy or real-model quality. Patter remains a personal preview for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 15+, without Apple notarization.

Patter v0.4.0
Patter 0.4.0
New in 0.4.0
- Local Parakeet v3 transcription on Apple Silicon, with model downloads inside Patter. Whisper downloads and custom local model files remain available.
- Import an Anarlog 1.0.27 library, including notes, transcripts, summaries and retained audio. Preview the import first; unchanged repeat imports are skipped and existing Patter edits are preserved.
- Optional Google Drive backups: back up manually or at a chosen nightly time, including recordings, transcripts, generated summaries, version history and nonsecret settings.
- Restore a verified Drive backup with recording-path remapping and a retained safety copy of the previous library. Each Mac keeps its own library; backups do not synchronize edits.
- Background backups through a macOS LaunchAgent, including catch-up while Patter is closed.
- Clear recovery instructions when an app update requires Google Drive reconnection.
Updating and Google Drive
Existing recordings and library history are retained. Because Patter is ad-hoc signed, a changed app build may lose access to its previous protected Keychain credentials. If prompted after updating, choose Settings → Google Drive backup → Reconnect Google Drive, select your original Google Desktop OAuth setup JSON and sign in with the same account. Keep that JSON available on each Mac. Reconnection preserves the backup destination, history and schedule, and resumes due backups.
Backup files are readable in your private Drive folder, without additional client-side encryption. Credentials, downloaded model weights and caches are excluded. Scheduled backups require the Mac to be awake, online and logged in.
Verification and limits
Five frontend tests and 36 Rust tests passed before release. Live Google OAuth, a 22-file Drive backup and restore, recording hash checks, closed-app background backup and reconnection after a local test update have passed. The release workflow additionally checks the macOS bundle, updater signature and downloaded artifact checksums.
Patter remains a personal preview for Apple Silicon Macs on macOS 15 or later, without Apple notarization. Exact nighttime scheduling, sleep/login recovery, a second physical Mac, long recordings and device changes still need broader reliability testing. The local update/reconnection test does not substitute for testing this published build on every Mac.
