RimDroid 0.2.5 (beta)

A quick note on expectations. Launching isn't the same as running smoothly. A big, mature colony with a dozen pawns, dozens of mods, and every DLC wants a flagship, ideally Snapdragon. A small one-pawn survival run can be fine even on a budget phone. It all comes down to your CPU (RimWorld + emulation) and your RAM.

⚠️ RimDroid is a beta and under active development. Things will break, devices differ wildly, and not everything works everywhere yet. We're improving it release by release.

πŸ’› Thank you to all testers! Special thanks to FRANKI666 for making most of the tests!

πŸ†• What's new

βœ… MobileGlues β€” a second renderer that doesn't use Vulkan at all (Settings β†’ Video). If the game won't start for you, or the picture comes out broken on Zink (like on Samsung Exynos), try this one.
βœ… Video settings redesigned β€” one crowded card became three separate ones: Video, Resolution and Compression.
βœ… Clearer menu footer β€” the link icons are labelled, the donate icon is easier to recognise, and there's now a link to Zomdroid, our launcher for Project Zomboid.

Technical

Textures are re-packed into ETC2 for MobileGlues β€” the format every mobile GPU understands natively. On Mali this is what turns a black world into a normal one; on Snapdragon it also runs faster than the desktop format.
box64's sorting routine was replaced with the system one.
Bug reports now include the system's own process-exit history, so we can tell whether Android killed the app for memory or the app crashed by itself.

Also in the app:

CJK fonts (Chinese / Japanese / Korean) - special RimDroidCJK mod.

⚠️ Reminder
Rimdroid is only a launcher.
To run the game, you still need the actual game files (Linux version), which you must obtain yourself - for example, by purchasing the game on Steam/GOG.
