Releases: v2matosevic/WinSnipper
Release list
WinSnipper v0.5.1
Small UI cleanup: removed the redundant Copy button from the editor toolbar — Ctrl+C still copies the annotated image, and Copy & Close remains the primary action.
Flavors: WinSnipper.exe (~0.25 MB) / WinSnipper-OCR.exe (~25 MB, adds Copy Text OCR). Requires the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime.
WinSnipper v0.5.0 — stability
Stability release:
- Hook watchdog — the capture hotkey now survives sleep/wake, unlock, and Windows silently dropping low-level hooks (re-arms automatically)
- Crash resilience — UI errors are logged to
%APPDATA%\WinSnipper\crash.loginstead of killing the app - Update notifications — daily check against GitHub releases, clickable tray balloon
Flavors as before: WinSnipper.exe (~0.25 MB, full screenshot flow) / WinSnipper-OCR.exe (~25 MB, adds Copy Text OCR). Requires .NET 8 Desktop Runtime.
WinSnipper v0.4.0 — lite + OCR flavors
Pick your flavor:
| File | Size | What you get |
|---|---|---|
WinSnipper.exe |
~0.25 MB | The full screenshot flow — snip, floating thumbnail, annotate, redact/pixelate, text, step badges, crop |
WinSnipper-OCR.exe |
~25 MB | Everything above + Copy Text (built-in Windows OCR with one-click language pack install from Settings) |
Both are single files, need the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime, and live in your tray. Win+Shift+S to snip (rebindable in Settings).
Also in 0.4.0: Copy Text closes the editor like Copy & Close; Save/Save As are distinct icons; Settings shows OCR engine status.
WinSnipper v0.3.0
First public release.
WinSnipper replaces Win+Shift+S with a faster loop: snip → auto-save + clipboard → floating thumbnail → annotate → paste.
- Region snip with pixel-exact selection (Per-Monitor-V2 DPI aware)
- Floating thumbnail: click to edit, drag out as a file, auto-dismisses
- Frameless dark editor: rect, freehand, ellipse, arrow, text, numbered step badges, redact/pixelate, crop, undo/redo
- Copy Text — built-in Windows OCR (upscaled input, language fallback)
- Rebindable hotkey + settings, start-with-Windows, single-file exe
Requires the .NET 8 Desktop Runtime. Run the exe — it lives in your tray.
