Signal analyzer DVB T2
DVB-T2 (Digital Video Broadcasting – Second Generation Terrestrial) is a standard for transmitting digital television signals over the air using terrestrial broadcast transmitters and antennas. It is the second-generation version of the DVB-T standard and was developed to provide greater transmission capacity, improved spectrum efficiency, and more robust signal reception.
DVB-T2 enables broadcasters to transmit multiple television and radio services within a single frequency channel, known as a multiplex. It supports modern television services, including high-definition (HD) and, depending on the available capacity and encoding technology, ultra-high-definition (UHD) content.
Typical bandwidth of DVB-T2 channel is 8 MHz.
DVB-T2 analyzer detects DVB-T2 OFDM, decodes P1/L1-pre signalling and, when available, L1-post / PLP information.
- CP - cyclic prefix / guard interval correlation.
- Pilots - pilot coherence; confirms DVB-T2 pilot structure.
- CFO - carrier frequency offset in Hz.
- MER - Modulation Error Ratio, where available.
- Profile / preamble - P1 signalling profile, for example T2-Base SISO or MISO.
- FFT size - OFDM FFT mode used by the multiplex.
- Guard interval (GI) - cyclic prefix ratio.
- Carrier mode - normal or extended carrier mode.
- PAPR reduction - Peak-to-Average Power Ratio reduction mode.
- Pilot pattern - DVB-T2 pilot pattern, shown as PP1, PP2, etc.
- FEF present - Future Extension Frame presence.
- DVB-T2 version - version signalled by the multiplex.
- Base/Lite flag - T2-Base or T2-Lite.
- L1-post constellation - modulation used for L1-post data.
- L1 code rate - code rate used for L1 signalling.
- L1 FEC type - LDPC/FEC type for L1 signalling.
- L1 repetition - whether L1 signalling is repeated.
- Cell ID, Network ID, T2 system ID - identifiers broadcast by the multiplex.
- Data symbols per frame - number of payload OFDM symbols in a T2 frame.
- PLP - Physical Layer Pipe. A DVB-T2 multiplex can contain one or more PLPs.
- PLP ID - identifier of the decoded PLP.
- PLP type - common PLP or data PLP type.
- Payload type - for example Transport Stream (TS), GSE or generic stream.
- Constellation - PLP modulation, for example QPSK, 16-QAM, 64-QAM or 256-QAM.
- Code rate - FEC code rate for the PLP.
- Rotated constellation - whether constellation rotation is enabled.
- FEC frame - normal 64K or short 16K FEC frame.
- Time interleaving length/type - time interleaver settings.
- In-band A/B - in-band signalling flags.
The DVB-T2 analyzer shows L1-pre and L1-post CRC success history. Green history means stable decoding; frequent failures usually mean low SNR, wrong channel bandwidth, multipath or overload.
