NB Multiplayer 2.2.9
NB Multiplayer 2.2.9
- NB Studio installs and updates now come from the renamed repository weighta/NB-Studio (the old address kept working through GitHub's redirect; this makes it direct). NB Studio 1.24.0 is available from Projects.
- Exporting mods for reNut: a mod with reNut custom parts (new in NB Studio 1.24.0, contributed by masterspike52) keeps its part files when you export it, including when several mods are combined into one.
NB Multiplayer 2.2.8 — 60 FPS option
60 FPS option
- 60 FPS checkbox in Settings › Game engine (under "Launch with Xenia"). The game runs at 60 fps instead of 30, and speeds stay the same: driving and timers run at normal real-time speed.
- Works everywhere in Xenia: Vanilla, editions (including co-op and Character Select), solo, rooms and projects, together with all other mods and tweaks.
- Applied in memory by Xenia; game files are never changed, so 60 fps and 30 fps players still pass the room's file check.
- In Xbox LIVE match rooms everyone should use the same setting. Co-op rooms should be fine either way, but mixing hasn't been tested yet.
- Greyed out with reNut, which doesn't apply this kind of tweak.
- Based on the 60 FPS patch by Margen67.
NB Multiplayer 2.2.7 — export mods as .nbpatch
Export mods and tweaks as .nbpatch (for other game copies and reNut)
- Export… on every mod card (the built-in tweaks too) and on modded editions saves a standalone .nbpatch.
- Combine several: tick several mods and use Export… or To reNut mods in the build bar to combine them into one patch (e.g. Breakable town vehicles + ULTRA Parts).
- Right-click a mod: Export as .nbpatch / Export to reNut mods folder / Choose the reNut mods folder. The reNut folder is chosen once and written to only when you export there. A warning appears if another patch there changes the same files; export them together instead.
- What's in an export:
- A single mod is exported unchanged, so rooms still see it as the same mod.
- Combinations and mods with world edits are flattened into plain file changes plus game-code tweaks.
- A README inside explains how to install it in NB Multiplayer, NB Studio, NB.Cli and reNut.
- Limit in reNut's mods folder: it applies game-file changes (world files, ULTRA parts…) but not game-code tweaks. Breakable town vehicles, the town crash fix and similar tweaks are therefore ignored there (reNut says so in its log). They work in Xenia and in NB Multiplayer editions.
- NB.Cli:
mod-export <out> <clean game> <mods...> [--name]. - NB Multiplayer's window no longer freezes when the Steam overlay opens (2.2.6).
NB Multiplayer 2.2.6 — Steam overlay freeze fix
Fix: Shift+Tab (Steam overlay) froze NB Multiplayer
- NB Multiplayer loads the Steam overlay because it uses the Steam relay. On Shift+Tab the overlay drew into NB Multiplayer's window, leaving artifacts and freezing it.
- NB Multiplayer now draws its window without Direct3D, so the overlay can't hook into it, and it asks the overlay not to draw. The overlay still works in the game itself.
- If NB Multiplayer is frozen right now, close it (Task Manager if needed) and start it again after updating.
NB Multiplayer 2.2.5 — no lost vehicle restores
Shared vehicle saves: no lost restores
- Writing the shared vehicle list now re-reads it first, so a vehicle restored in NB Studio while NB Multiplayer runs stays restored.
- Includes the NB.Core updates of NB Studio 1.23.1.
NB Multiplayer 2.2.4 — removed vehicles stay removed
Shared vehicle saves: removals respected
- Vehicles removed from My Vehicle Saves in NB Studio 1.23 (removed.json) are no longer brought back into players' profiles.
- Includes the NB.Core updates of NB Studio 1.21–1.23: music, scenery transplant, safer file writes, and background test mode.
NB Multiplayer 2.2.3 — vehicle names
Vehicle names in the shared vehicle folder
- Vehicles saved from the game's own vehicles store a plain-text creator name ("SalvyBob"), which NB Multiplayer read as Chinese characters. Both name formats are now read correctly, and existing lists repair themselves.
- Files that aren't vehicles are no longer picked up as vehicles.
- Background mode for automated tests (NB_STUDIO_BACKGROUND=1): the game opens behind other windows without taking the focus. Normal use is unchanged.
- Includes the NB.Core updates of NB Studio 1.18–1.20 (cameras, joint scale).
NB Multiplayer 2.2.2
Normal Parts Store order with "All parts unlocked"
- The fix: with the "All parts unlocked" tweak (also part of the co-op edition), Mumbo's Parts Store now lists its categories in the normal order: Seats, Wheels, Power, Fuel, Storage, Ammo, Body, Gadgets, Protection, Fly and Float, Weapons, Accessories.
- Cause: the tweak used the developers' all-parts list, which put Body first and Storage last. It now unlocks every crate's parts, the same 118 parts in the game's own order.
- Rebuilding: editions with the tweak (and the co-op edition) are rebuilt with it automatically.
- Includes the NB.Core updates of NB Studio 1.15–1.17.
NB Multiplayer 2.2.1
ULTRA Parts + Seattle combine; the build bar no longer looks frozen
- Mods that add vehicle parts combine now. ULTRA Parts and Seattle both change the garage's part lists: ULTRA adds its seven parts, Seattle sets every part to 9999. Building an edition with both stopped with "These mods change the same things". The lists are now merged part by part, so an edition gets ULTRA's parts with Seattle's counts. The same goes for other mods that add parts. Tested with a 17-mod Seattle edition (ULTRA Parts, Character Select, Co-op and 14 tweaks): it builds and loads into Seattle.
- The build bar goes away when an edition is done or fails. A failed build left the bar half full under the message, so it looked frozen.
NB Multiplayer 2.2.0
Co-op fixes, Xbox LIVE matchmaking for small rooms, new tweaks
Showdown Town co-op (co-op edition 1.7)
- Characters stay right after a world trip. Mumbo stays Mumbo, Piddles comes back as Piddles, and the others see you as your character again as soon as you are back in town. Characters that only exist in town are Banjo inside the game worlds.
- Nobody can get into your vehicle. Other players can't take your empty seat while you're on foot.
- Recalled parts (RB) and B-edits show for everyone. Parts you call back and changes you make in the vehicle editor in town now appear on the other players' screens.
- Jig-O-Vends no longer freeze the other players' games.
- Players on the minimap. Other players show as a marker on the town minimap.
- Fewer phantom part losses. Bumping into another player's vehicle no longer counts as a weapon hit. This happened far more often under reNut.
- Leftovers from the last town visit are cleared when you come back from a world or the garage. They could make another player stay invisible after the garage.
- The host closing the room is now shown. Joiners see "Host disconnected" and are asked whether to close their game. This also happens if the host's PC stops answering.
- "How to play together" steps are shown when you host or join, including when to choose RESUME SAVED GAME.
- The Play as card is hidden for editions without Character Select.
Character Select 1.1
- Mumbo and the other characters no longer get stuck after a wrench move. It used a 2.8 s animation and now takes about 0.8 s.
- The ledge grab, summoning a vehicle and get-ups were fixed the same way. The ledge-grab fix is not checked in game.
Xbox LIVE (Vanilla and editions)
- Ranked Match and Player Match start with 2 players. The game normally waits for at least 4 players and searches again every 70 seconds. In an NB room a lobby of 2 or more now starts after about 20 seconds.
- Party play ("Play a game with my party") already worked for races and sports.
Photos
- The photo camera no longer takes black pictures, in Xenia or reNut.
reNut
- reNut starts in a window. F11 or Alt+Enter switch to full screen and back, and Alt+F4 still closes the game.
- A crash on the title screen (the intro movie's sound shutting down) is fixed.
- The NB mod layer now covers the new tweaks. The reNut build kit is updated in renut-nb.
New tweaks (Mods & editions)
- L.O.G.'s Choice unlock: CHOOSE VEHICLE in a L.O.G.'s Choice challenge unlocks for good once you have won its TT trophy. Before that, it stays greyed out as in the original.
- Planes fly in town: propellers and jets push in Showdown Town like in the Act worlds.
- No ceiling: removes Showdown Town's invisible roof and raises the height limit.
- Stable fast vehicles: stops the wild mid-air spinning with super engines.
- Unlimited part quantity: every part you own counts as 9999.
Maps
- Snowy Showdown Town 1.1: no ceiling over the snowy town, and planes fly there too.
- Seattle is included, with Change Vehicle in town and a bigger world edge.
