Adding Your Own Music

Quick setup

  1. Convert or export a track as Ogg Vorbis. The mod does not support other audio formats.
  2. Give the file a lowercase .ogg extension.
  3. Put it in <Cities: Skylines installation directory>/CSLMusicMod_Music.
  4. Modify music, JSON, or a music pack, then restart the game.
  5. Select User Defined from the radio panel.

The loader compares the extension with the exact string .ogg. It skips .OGG and mixed-case variants.

Folder and collection rules

The loader scans the root directory and its immediate child directories. It does not recurse into deeper levels.

CSLMusicMod_Music/
├── Loose Track.ogg
├── Chill/
│ ├── Morning.ogg
│ └── Evening.ogg
└── Action/
    └── Chase.ogg

This layout creates these collections:

Location Collection Default stations
Root Userdefined User Defined and CSLMusic Mix
Chill Chill CSLMusic Mix
Action Action CSLMusic Mix

Each child directory creates a collection. To turn Chill or Action into a separate station, add a station JSON file. See Creating Custom Radio Stations.

The loader ignores deeper directories, including Chill/Night/Track.ogg.

Content-type suffixes

The filename selects the content type. Put the suffix at the end of the base name, before .ogg.

Filename Radio content type Display name
Song.ogg Music Song
Host Intro#blurb.ogg Blurb Host Intro
Interview#talk.ogg Talk Interview
Advertisement#commercial.ogg Commercial Advertisement
News Update#broadcast.ogg Broadcast News Update

Suffix matching uses case-sensitive text. Use the lowercase spellings in the table.

Apply changes

The mod discovers music and station definitions when it initializes. After you add, remove, rename, or move files, restart the game. Loading another city does not rescan the directories, and the mod has no in-game rescan command.
