Companion Leveling

Freed Dvergr are persistent RPG companions, not vanilla star-tier creatures. Each ally has its own XP and level track, saved on the creature itself, so it grows with you and keeps that growth across relogs and server restarts.
Companions level from 1 to 10 on a rising XP curve — each level costs more than the last, so the early levels come quickly and the later ones are a long-term goal.
| Level → next | XP needed |
|---|---|
| 1 → 2 | 100 |
| 2 → 3 | 250 |
| 3 → 4 | 450 |
| 4 → 5 | 700 |
| 5 → 6 | 1,000 |
| 6 → 7 | 1,400 |
| 7 → 8 | 1,900 |
| 8 → 9 | 2,500 |
| 9 → 10 | 3,200 |
- Kills. Any recruited companion near a creature's death (within ~20 m) earns XP — it doesn't have to land the killing blow. XP scales with the biome and the toughness of what died: a tougher creature in a more dangerous biome is worth much more. A Meadows Greyling is worth a little; an Ashlands warrior is worth a lot.
- Player kills (on PvP servers) grant a flat amount.
- Duel wins grant a bonus — see Dvergr Duels.
Rough per-kill scale, from weakest to toughest common creature in each biome: Meadows ~5 → Black Forest ~12 → Swamp ~22 → Mountain ~35 → Plains ~50 → Mistlands ~75 → Ashlands ~100.
- Stronger. Each level scales the companion's health and damage — including a mage's spell damage.
- Caste flavor. On top of that, front-line castes (Rogue, Fire Mage) gain move speed as they level, and back-line castes (Ice Mage, Support Mage) gain max health — up to a meaningful bonus at level 10.
- A gold ★N badge on the floating name above the companion shows its level at a glance.
- Hovering your own companion shows the detailed readout:
Companion · Lv 7 (42% to next), orLv 10 (max)once capped.
Levels are never lost — duels are non-lethal and only ever add XP, never remove it.
