Recon v0.4.4

Choose a tag to compare

@youssefvdel youssefvdel released this 27 Sep 20:20

Recon 0.4.4 — performance, reliability, and a safer updater.

Performance

  • Live lobby no longer flickers. Stats used to appear and then vanish as the main and overlay windows fought over state; enrichment now merges instead of overwriting, so players fill in and stay filled.
  • CPU: the app no longer spawns curl.exe for every Riot request — requests now run in-process. Process-spawn overhead was the single largest CPU cost.
  • GPU: removed three infinite CSS animations (the LIVE pulses and the update badge) that forced the compositor to redraw continuously. Measured drop: 25% of a core to roughly zero.
  • Memory: bounded seven caches that previously grew without limit over a long session.
  • The dev dashboard is no longer built into release binaries, and the hidden Tracker Network window now tears itself down after 5 minutes idle.

Updating

  • Updates now download in the background and are offered when it is safe. Recon will never install or restart during a live match or while the overlay is up — including when you click install yourself.
  • Fixed a bug where a finished match could still be shown as live.

Fixes

  • Fixed a corruption bug in the Tracker Network transport that silently truncated large responses and reported them as success. This is why some previous-act entries showed K/D 0.00 and the Agents and Maps tabs could come up empty.
  • Fixed duplicated network requests: every lobby player was being fetched twice. Request volume is roughly halved, with a hard ceiling so the app cannot hammer the API.
  • Tracker Score stat bars are now coloured by grade (S blue, A green, B yellow, C silver, D red) instead of a fixed colour per stat.
  • Overview no longer scrolls, and the window minimum now guarantees the content area it was designed for.
  • The app opens on Overview instead of restoring the Settings tab.
  • App data moved to %APPDATA%\Recon; existing settings, hotkeys and EDID backups migrate automatically.

Under the hood

  • Tracker Network responses are cached on disk, so a warm start makes no network requests.
  • Removed the legacy GitHub-API updater and an unreachable update dialog.

Recon v0.4.3

Choose a tag to compare

@youssefvdel youssefvdel released this 21 Sep 08:08

Added — Space Re-Press (Hold): holds-to-re-press Space inside Recon, replacing a separate AutoHotkey install. Toggle with F3 in-game or from Settings → Space Re-Press. Off on every launch.

Changed — Agent Pre-Picker is now hover-only. It still hovers your per-map agent the instant Agent Select opens, but it no longer locks the agent in — that decision stays with you. The lock-in delay slider is gone.

Fixed — Space re-press cadence lowered from ~1000/s to ~20/s, removing the input-queue flooding that caused in-game frame drops.

Recon v0.4.2

@youssefvdel youssefvdel released this 16 Sep 11:21

Recon v0.4.2

Data reliability + AMD/NVIDIA scaling fixes.

Stats now come from the real browser engine

Tracker data is fetched through Recon's own embedded browser context instead of a
raw script — the same fingerprints, cookies and navigation chain a normal
browser sends. The script path that Cloudflare kept blocking is gone.

Rate-limit hardening (no more walls)

  • Requests are paced 6–8s apart, one at a time.
  • A failed URL cools down 30s for every screen, so five views can't hammer
    one player.
  • Per-lobby budget: 10 players (12 in Deathmatch), own team first.
  • Private profiles (451) back off 7 days; missing pages (404) back off 24h —
they were being re-requested every lobby.
  • Dead-network breaker: 5 failed requests in a row → quiet for 5 minutes.
  • Your own games are never re-downloaded: Act history is cached, previous acts
    are pinned permanently.

Private profiles are labelled, not broken

Rows for private tracker profiles show a lock in TS / ACS / K/D / WIN% / HS%
instead of empty dashes — in the tracker table, the in-game overlay, the lobby
and the player card.

Player list is stable

  • Rows no longer reshuffle as data arrives.
  • Ranks no longer flicker between "Unrated" and the real rank.
  • Party outlines no longer blink when one poll misses.

GPU scaling fixed (AMD + NVIDIA)

  • Scaling is applied through Windows' own display API and the documented WDDM
scaling value — the toggle now actually stretches (verified: old builds
wrote "maintain aspect ratio", i.e. the opposite of what it claimed
    ).
  • Recon no longer writes vendor driver keys. Those keys did nothing on
current drivers and left some AMD systems with broken scaling and a
disappearing HDMI audio device / driver.
  • Recon now cleans up those keys automatically on launch, so machines that
were affected heal themselves (then reinstall/repair the GPU driver once to
    bring HDMI audio back).

Borderless no longer grabs focus

Applying borderless used to raise and activate Valorant, burying Recon and
forcing an alt-tab. It now changes size/style only, and never steals focus.

Smaller fixes

  • Riot Chat: the friend-note input actually appears (it was being clipped away).
  • Store: player titles show their real name instead of "Unknown".
  • Pre-Pick map list includes Summit.
  • Dev Dashboard: RAM/CPU timeline with spike markers and a full footprint
breakdown (backend + Recon's own webviews).

Recon v0.4.1

Choose a tag to compare

@youssefvdel youssefvdel released this 15 Sep 21:38

Recon v0.4.1 stable

  • Live match server chip (agent select, HUD widgets, live page)
  • Rust in-process tracker fetcher (Go sidecar removed, -11MB)
  • OP.GG fallback when tracker cools + human-paced fetching (6s spread, Chrome-exact fingerprint)
  • Stable party colors (hash of party ID, no more flicker)
  • Tracker on by default, no scary cooldown UI, crash reports stay opt-in
  • Dev dashboard QA tools + full test suites

v0.4.1-alpha.2 (early access)

Pre-release

@youssefvdel youssefvdel released this 14 Sep 00:04

Recon v0.4.1-alpha.2 — early access

Fixes on top of alpha.1.

  • Pre-Picker: instant hover + timed lock-in. The hover now fires the moment Agent Select opens. The slider is a lock-in delay — seconds until the hovered agent is locked in. Set it to 60 for hover-only (never locks).
  • Manual-pick guard. The delayed lock re-reads the lobby first and backs off if you hovered a different agent, or if you're already locked. It also never blind-locks when the lobby is unreadable.
  • In-game widgets: darker Material 3 plates (75%) with 55% outlines, and lighter player rows (25%) so names sit on glass.
  • Scoreboard columns no longer clip or leave dead space; panel width trimmed.
  • Crosshair color wells themed; Accounts tab sits beside Game Config.

@youssefvdel youssefvdel released this 13 Sep 23:33

Recon v0.4.1-alpha.1 — early access

Overlay + live-match polish on top of 0.4.0.

  • In-game widgets in Material 3 — translucent plates (55%) and outlines (45%) so the game reads through the HUD
  • Pre-Pick reminder widget — lobby-only badge on the overlay with the agent icon; hides in Agent Select and in-game, and never shows when the Pre-Picker is off
  • LIVE shortcut in the TopBar — pulsing pill next to APIs Ready that jumps straight to Live Match while a lobby is up
  • Scoreboard columns fixed — no more clipped HS% or dead space on the right, panels resized to fit their columns
  • Live match loads faster — TRN queue slots refund on cooldown and retries align to the real cooldown expiry
  • Crosshair color wells themed, Accounts tab moved beside Game Config

Recon v0.3.4

Choose a tag to compare

@youssefvdel youssefvdel released this 13 Sep 01:34

Recon v0.3.4

Ranks no longer flicker

A failed MMR lookup used to write "no rank" into the cache and mark it as freshly
resolved — so a single rate-limit response could blank a player's rank, and the
15-minute cache then kept it blank. Because the app makes several rank lookups
per refresh, failures were common and the rank visibly flipped between the real
rank and unranked every few seconds.

Now a failed lookup keeps the last rank it knows and retries shortly after,
instead of caching the failure. Rank, RR and peak rank stay steady for the whole
match.

From v0.3.3 (if you're updating from 0.3.2 or older)

  • Live agent suggestions: the Top Agents widget reads real per-map, per-rank
stats from Blitz instead of a list baked into the app. Shows the top 3.
  • Map name fix: Summit was reported as Abyss — Riot reuses map codenames and
the old table still pointed "Plummet" at Abyss.
  • HUD readability: widget panels actually have a dark background now (the
opacity class used values Tailwind doesn't generate, so it rendered nothing).
  • Team colours no longer swap sides between refreshes.
  • Flags and stats stop flickering on a partial refresh.

Installer: Recon_0.3.4_x64-setup.exe (Windows, NSIS)
Existing installs update in place via Settings → Check for updates.

Recon v0.3.3

Choose a tag to compare

@youssefvdel youssefvdel released this 13 Sep 01:21

Recon v0.3.3

Agent suggestions are now live

The Top Agents widget reads real per-map, per-rank stats from Blitz instead of a
list baked into the app, so it can't drift out of date when a patch moves the
meta. It shows the top 3 for the map you're on, at your rank.

If Blitz has too few games at your exact rank it widens to all ranks rather than
showing nothing — and if it's unreachable you get your own tracked numbers
instead of a guess.

Map name fixed: Summit was reported as Abyss

Riot reuses map codenames internally — Summit now lives at
/Game/Maps/Plummet/Plummet — and the app still had "Plummet" mapped to Abyss.
Names now come from the live map catalogue, and any name cached by an older build
is re-derived, so a stale entry can't survive an update.

In-game HUD readability

  • Widget panels are properly dark now. They had no background at all: the
opacity class used values Tailwind does not generate, so the rule was silently
dropped and only the border rendered.
  • Player rows darkened, text brightened, and the party indicator moved so it can
no longer shift the stat columns.
  • Starting Side toggle is back in the HUD widget list where it belongs (it had
    ended up in Settings, duplicated).

Live match stability

  • Team colours no longer swap sides between refreshes.
  • Flags, rank and stats stop flickering back to empty when a poll comes back
    partial.
  • Locking the HUD from the overlay now updates the Settings button immediately.

Also

  • Username copy button and TRN / Blitz / OP.GG lookup buttons now appear for
unmasked streamer-mode players, and show full country names.

Installer: Recon_0.3.3_x64-setup.exe (Windows, NSIS)
Existing installs update in place via Settings → Check for updates.
