- Auto-update over HTTPS now actually replaces the running firmware: downloadSHA256() previously returned the full shasum-format line ("<hex>  <filename>") instead of just the 64-char hash, so verifyStagedPartition's hash compare always failed silently. Extract the first whitespace-delimited token. Latent since v3.x; the WebUI path masked it because Update.h-with-U_SPIFFS partial-writes survived the post-mismatch abort.
- Firmware OTA pull uses esp_https_ota for proper passive-slot staging, image-len verification and atomic boot-pointer flip (replaces HTTPClient + Update.write loop).
- Switch to native IDF mdns_* (espressif__mdns component) instead of arduino-esp32 ESPmDNS wrapper.
- Use canonical NetworkClient / NetworkClientSecure names (arduino-esp32 3.x renamed WiFiClient*).
- Restore GIT_TAG embed for tagged builds so /api/settings reports the release tag (PlatformIO parity).

Patch release on top of 3.5.0: WebUI update-checker fixes + lint hygiene.

- Auto-update over HTTPS works again: re-attach the IDF mbedtls CA bundle on every HTTPClient request. arduino-esp32 v3.x's stop_ssl_socket() zeroes the bundle pointer, so the previous once-guard left every subsequent HTTPS request failing with "useRootCABundle is set, but attach_ssl_certificate_bundle was not called".
- /api/settings.fsRev now reports the bundled WebUI commit (was always empty): scripts/pack-lfs-image.sh writes fs_hash.txt into the LittleFS image root.
- gitRev and fsRev match again: both emit the full 40-char firmware HEAD so the WebUI's byte-for-byte update-checker stops misfiring on every load.
- Codebase passes the clang-format and clang-tidy gates again (CI fileset).
- CI cleanup: GitHub workflow drops the legacy push-to-web-flasher step (replaced by release-assets publishing).

3.5.0

ESP-IDF v5.5 is now the canonical build system; PlatformIO has been removed.

- Plain ESP-IDF v5.5 flow, variant-aware for all 4 production targets, with per-variant sdkconfig defaults.
- Canonical IDF layout (firmware/ flattened into repo root; src/+include/ merged into main/).
- Managed components replace vendored AsyncTCP + ESPAsyncWebServer; relative-path dependencies.lock with CI guard.
- USB-Serial-JTAG console; PSRAM enabled.
- CI: full 4-variant matrix on PRs, release-publish on tags; Forgejo + GitHub aligned on espressif/idf:v5.5.
- Host unit tests via plain CMake + ctest (Unity).
- Docs refreshed for the IDF layout; ESP-IDF VSCode extension replaces the PlatformIO recommendation.
- WebUI data submodule bumped to v3 head; nostr consumes ws-node kind 30078 d-tag feed.
