ST-LINK Adapters And Pinouts

This page is about the ST-LINK adapter side.

Scooter / VCU board connection points are documented in the model pages because they differ by board.

Common Adapter Types

Clone ST-LINK adapters are cheap and common. They usually work for SWDIO, SWCLK, and GND, but many clones do not have a working reset pin.

Genuine ST-LINK adapters or the ST-LINK part of a Nucleo board may provide a working reset pin. That makes genuine reset mode possible.

Required Signals

For normal SWD access:

  • SWDIO
  • SWCLK
  • GND

Depending on the adapter and powering method, a 3.3 V target reference may also be needed.

For genuine reset mode:

  • RST / NRST

Important Power Note

Do not blindly connect every pin.

Some setups power the VCU from main / bench power. Some may use ST-LINK 3.3 V in specific situations. Do not use both power methods at the same time unless the model guide explicitly says to.
