Building from Source

Building from Source

Check the requirements in each repository before building. Tool and SDK versions can change between releases.

Windows

Read the current Windows build requirements and packaging guide first.

Clone to a normal Windows NTFS path, not a WSL network path:

git clone https://github.com/69kenji/netwatch.git
cd netwatch
npm ci
npm run package:dir

Test the unpacked application from release\win-unpacked\NetWatch.exe.

Build the Windows installer with:

npm run package:win

The packaging guide documents the release checks, installer behavior, persistent state, and bundled component handling. Follow it instead of copying an older release procedure.

Android Studio

Read the current Android requirements.

  1. Clone https://github.com/69kenji/NetWatch-Android.git.
  2. Open the repository root in Android Studio.
  3. Let Gradle synchronization finish and install requested SDK components.
  4. Select the app run configuration and a device or emulator.
  5. Select Run for a debug install or Build → Build APK(s) for an APK.

The debug APK is written under app/build/outputs/apk/debug/.

For a command-line debug build on Windows:

.\gradlew.bat assembleDebug

Private files

Do not commit API keys, WireGuard profiles, signing keys, keystores, generated pairing data, Prowlarr state, or runtime data. Check staged files and the final repository diff before every push.

License and third-party obligations remain applicable to source builds and redistributed binaries. See the Windows license, third-party notices, and mpv provenance.
