✨ New

🎚️ CRF for H.264 and H.265 NVIDIA NVENC: when the video codec is "H.264 GPU NVIDIA (NVENC)" or "H.265 GPU NVIDIA (NVENC)", a new "CRF NVENC" field appears in Video settings. Type any value from 1 to 51, like the CRF of x264 and x265.

1 gives the best quality and the biggest file, 51 the smallest file. Good values are 18 to 23 for H.264 and 20 to 26 for H.265.

0 keeps the automatic mode: the value comes from the Quality setting, as before.

A hint under the field tells you what the chosen value means (very high, high, medium or low quality).

The value is used as NVENC constant quality (FFmpeg rc vbr with cq), so the file size follows the picture, like a real CRF.

It works everywhere FFmpeg Forge encodes with NVENC: normal conversions, Scale (the screen quality option no longer changes your value) and SeedVR2.

A bitrate above 0 still takes priority over the CRF.

Your CRF is saved with your settings.

⚙️ Requirements

An NVIDIA GPU with NVENC (GeForce GTX 10 series or newer) and a recent driver.

📦 Download

🌱 SeedVR2 for videos and images: ByteDance Seed's one step diffusion model. It removes blur, noise and compression artefacts and rebuilds fine detail. On videos, the result stays consistent over time.

🧠 Choose from 10 models:

3B: GGUF Q4_K_M, GGUF Q8_0, FP8 or FP16.

7B: GGUF Q4_K_M, FP8 mixed (recommended for 24 GB cards) or FP16.

7B Sharp: GGUF Q4_K_M, FP8 mixed or FP16.

The list shows the VRAM each model needs. Each model downloads automatically the first time you use it.

🎛️ Settings:

Output size: ×1.5, ×2, ×3, ×4, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 4K or restore only.

Batch size and colour correction (LAB, wavelet, wavelet adaptive, HSV, AdaIN).

Input noise, latent noise and seed.

Chunking with temporal overlap for long videos.

VRAM savers: BlockSwap, VAE tiling and RAM offload.

Attention backend (SDPA, Flash Attention 2, SageAttention 2 or 3), torch.compile and CUDA GPU.

📥 "Install SeedVR2…" button: it downloads the official SeedVR2 command line (Apache 2.0), uv with Python 3.12 and PyTorch CUDA 12.8 (about 4 GB). It runs in a console window so you can follow the progress. An existing install works too, ComfyUI included: use "SeedVR2 folder…".

🔗 Keeps the rest of FFmpeg Forge: trim, rotation, Denoiser, filters, output format, codec and audio still apply. FFmpeg prepares the source, SeedVR2 restores it and FFmpeg encodes the final file.

💡 Clear hints for common problems: out of VRAM, incomplete Python environment, CUDA not available.

🔧 Also in 1.1.3

The experimental DLSS and DLSS 5 options added after 1.1.2 have been removed.

The startup fix of the portable edition is kept, along with the error log (FFmpegForge_error.log).

⚙️ Requirements for SeedVR2

An NVIDIA GPU with CUDA and a recent driver. For the 7B models, 24 GB of VRAM is recommended; use 3B, GGUF or BlockSwap on smaller cards.

About 4 GB for the installation, plus 2 to 16 GB per model.

It is slow: a 7B model needs several minutes per minute of video.

📦 Downloads

🎒 FFmpegForge-1.1.3-Portable.rar (about 204 MB): everything included, FFmpeg Forge 1.1.3 with FFmpeg 9.0.2 full and ForgeRTX. Extract the whole archive anywhere and run FFmpegForge.exe. SeedVR2 installs into the SeedVR2 folder next to it.

🪶 FFmpegForge-1.1.3.rar (about 0.6 MB): normal edition for your own FFmpeg (C:\FFmpeg\bin or next to the .exe). SeedVR2 installs into %LOCALAPPDATA%\FFmpegForge\SeedVR2.

ℹ️ SeedVR2, Python, PyTorch and the models are not included: the "Install SeedVR2…" button downloads them from their official sources.

⚠️ The executables are not code signed. If SmartScreen warns you, click "More info", then "Run anyway".

🧹 Denoiser: Neat Video-style noise reduction
Denoiser

  • Auto noise profile: every video is analysed first. Luma and colour noise are measured on 4 frames, so one preset fits clean and very noisy footage alike. The measured noise is shown in the log.
  • Temporal noise reduction: a 3D FFT Wiener filter works over the previous, current and next frame.
  • Detail recovery: a little of the original texture is mixed back in, so skin and fabric stay natural.
  • Luma sharpening (0–100 %) runs at the end, without colour fringes.
  • 9 presets:
    • Auto, Light, Medium, Strong, Very strong;
    • Film grain (cleans but keeps the grain);
    • Low light / smartphone and Old VHS / analog (strong colour-noise pass);
    • Animation / cartoons.
  • 3 quality levels: Balanced (3D FFT), High quality (+ non-local means) and Fast (hqdn3d, real time). Strength goes from 0 to 200 %.
  • It runs before Scale, OptiScaler and NVIDIA RTX, so the upscaler works on a clean picture.

On test footage with added noise, PSNR went from 33.5 dB to 37.6 dB on text and graphics, and from 32.1 dB to 34.0 dB on heavy noise over fine texture.
This is not a neural network: FFmpeg has no built-in AI denoiser. It follows Neat Video's method (noise profile + temporal filtering) with FFmpeg's own filters.

🎒 Portable edition with FFmpeg 9.0.2

  • FFmpegForge-1.1.2-Portable.raris one folder that includes FFmpeg 9.0.2 full (gyan.dev):ffmpeg.exe, ffprobe.exeandffplay.exe`.
  • Nothing to install, and nothing written to the registry or %APPDATA%. Settings and caches stay in Settings\, so you can carry it on a USB stick.
  • The bundled FFmpeg is always used, even after the folder is moved.
  • It includes the FFmpeg licence, build info, HTML documentation and presets, plus the full FFmpeg Forge source code.
  • Delete portable.txt to switch back to the normal mode.

🔧 Fixes

  • FSR 2 / FSR 3 on screen recordings: files recorded by VLC (or cut mid-stream) whose size was not reported are now probed deeper, and the first frame is decoded if needed. If the size is still unknown, the conversion falls back to FSR 1 instead of failing.
  • Frame rate: a container time base reported as the frame rate (e.g. 1000 fps) is ignored, and the real average frame rate is used. This matters for FSR 3 frame generation.
  • Version info: the window title and the file version now show 1.1.2.

✨ New

  • 🔍 RTX Video Super Resolution: AI upscaling and compression-artifact clean-up, with quality 1–4 (Low → Ultra) and an upscale factor of ×2, ×3 or ×4.
  • 🌈 RTX TrueHDR: converts SDR to HDR10 with contrast, saturation, middle gray and peak brightness (nits). Output is 10-bit with BT.2020 / PQ metadata.
  • 🧠 DLSS Super Resolution (NVIDIA NGX AI): offers DLAA, Quality (×1.5), Balanced (×1.72), Performance (×2) and Ultra Performance (×3).
  • ⚙️ Three engines, picked automatically:
    • NVIDIA driver (built-in): ForgeRTX.exe drives RTX Video through the D3D11 video processor and NVIDIA's driver extensions, the way Chrome, VLC and mpv do. It works out of the box on RTX GPUs. Turn on RTX Video Enhancement in the NVIDIA App.
    • FFmpeg with NVIDIA RTX Video filters (vsr_cuda / vsr_drv_cuda, truehdr_cuda / truehdr_drv_cuda, isr_cuda, dlpp_drv_cuda). The All … parameters buttons open every real option of these filters in the visual editor.
    • RTXVideoProcessor.exe, built on the official NVIDIA RTX Video SDK. It handles VSR ×2 and TrueHDR with NVENC encoding. Drop it in C:\FFmpeg\bin\ or use Locate RTXVideoProcessor.exe….
  • 🔎 Scale (Échelle): game-style upscalers for video and images.
    • The types are AMD FSR 1, NVIDIA NIS, Snapdragon GSR, Anime4K, xBR, hqx, Integer, Nearest, Sharp bilinear, BCAS, EWA Lanczos Sharp, Lanczos, Bicubic and Spline.
    • Sharpness is 100 % by default, and Optimized (GPU via libplacebo / Vulkan) is ticked by default.
    • The FSR, NIS and SGSR shaders are ports of the official open-source SDKs and are embedded in the .exe. They need a full FFmpeg build (libplacebo).
  • 🔊 Dolby Atmos & DTS:X channel layouts: 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.2, 7.1.4, 7.1.6, 9.1.6, 9.1.4 (DTS:X Pro) and 22.2, available in Audio settings → Channels. These are written as discrete channel beds, up to 24 channels in PCM 24-bit or Opus.
  • 🎚️ Automatic immersive upmix: picking 7.1.6, 9.1.6 or another immersive layout builds a real multichannel mix from stereo.
    • The lead vocal or dialogue moves to the center speaker, closer to you.
    • Instruments keep their position across front, wides and sides.
    • Bass and kick drum feed the LFE.
    • Reverb, room, cymbals and air fill the wides and height speakers.
    • Four styles are available: Auto, Music, Cinema and Live concert. A compatible codec (PCM 24-bit or Opus) is picked automatically.
  • 🎧 Atmos / DTS:X passthrough: keeps an existing TrueHD Atmos, E-AC-3 JOC or DTS:X track bit-for-bit. FFmpeg itself cannot encode Atmos objects or DTS:X metadata.
  • 🛡️ Clear errors. The app tells you when no RTX engine is available. It also warns when TrueHDR is combined with an 8-bit codec such as H.264.

📋 Requirements for RTX features

  • An NVIDIA RTX GPU and a recent NVIDIA driver
  • RTX Video Enhancement (Super Resolution / HDR) turned on in the NVIDIA App. The built-in engine needs nothing else.
  • DLSS Super Resolution needs an FFmpeg build with NVIDIA's NGX filters. Otherwise it is skipped and RTX VSR is used instead.
  • TrueHDR needs a 10-bit codec: H.265, AV1, VP9, ProRes or DNxHR HQX.

Everything from v1.0

You still get every output format and encoder of your FFmpeg build, all Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHR profiles, unlimited custom resolution, 500+ FFmpeg filters with a visual editor and presets, and batch drag & drop.

📦 Installation

  1. Put ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe in C:\FFmpeg\bin\. A full build is recommended.
  2. Extract FFmpegForge.rar into C:\FFmpeg\.
  3. Run FFmpegForge.exe.

⚠️ The executable is not code-signed. If SmartScreen warns you, click More info → Run anyway.
