What changed in Archway — product features and the new store

Everything below is live on the beta environment. These are the changes you can see or feel while using the app.

The theme of this release is telling customers what they are buying. A product can now be described in detail — the plans it is sold under, the features it offers, and exactly what each plan includes — and the store page has been rebuilt to show it.

New — capability that was not there before  ·  Improved — existing behaviour made better  ·  Fixed — something that was wrong  ·  Changed — deliberately different, and worth knowing.

Describing a product

  • New — A product can now be sold under several Plans, each with its own prices.
  • New — A product can list the Features it offers, and the individual details under each feature.
  • New — Every plan can say what it includes for each of those details — a number, a limit, or a short phrase like "Unlimited".
  • New — Features, plans and their details each have their own screens, so they can be set up and edited directly.

The store

  • New — The store is now laid out plan by plan: each plan shows its own prices, followed by everything it includes.
  • New — Plans can be marked as most popular, and are highlighted on the page.
  • Changed — What a plan includes is shown as the value itself, in green — "Up to 3", "500" — rather than a tick you had to interpret.
  • Changed — Plans sold by conversation show Talk to sales for pricing, with no price and no Add to Cart.
  • Changed — A plan with no price set up is no longer listed; a heading standing over an empty space read as broken.
  • Improved — Each feature detail can carry a description, revealed by expanding the row.

Setting products up

  • Improved — Adding a price, plan, feature or detail fills in the product you are adding it to, instead of asking for it again.
  • Improved — Lists of features and plans show the display name you gave them, not the internal one.
  • Improved — Dropdowns on the product screens offer only the options belonging to the product you are working on.
  • Improved — Fields on the product screens are in a sensible order, with the on/off switches grouped together at the end.

Fixes along the way

  • Fixed — The app could sit on a spinner forever after opening a newly created tenancy, and now asks for a region instead.
  • Fixed — A session left over from earlier could sign you out and leave you stuck, needing the app restarted. It now recovers on its own.
  • Fixed — The app could flicker between the home page and the store without ever showing either, hiding the message explaining why.
  • Fixed — Dropdowns offered "Empty" as though it were a real choice; they now show nothing until you pick one, and will not accept it as an answer.
  • Fixed — Leaving a number field empty no longer causes an error.
  • Improved — Sign in is offered on the sign-up page, so you can switch without going back.

Found something odd? Tell us what you were doing, which screen you were on, and roughly when — that trio is usually enough for us to track it down.
