| Option | What it means |
|---|---|
| PhishLens Cloud (default) | The hosted server at phishlens.dev, over HTTPS. Nothing to install. Emails are analysed in memory and not stored (see Privacy in short). |
| Local backend (Docker) | Your own server on this computer, http://127.0.0.1:8000. Emails never leave your machine. See Running your own server. |
| Custom URL | Your own server elsewhere. Use an https:// address: with http:// to a remote machine, emails would cross the internet unencrypted, and the settings warn you. |
Test connection checks that the chosen server answers, and shows its version and the text model it runs, for example Connected · server 2.0.0 · text model: PhishLens multilingual r4. An older server answers Connected · older server that does not report its version: it works, it just does not say which version it is.
- Read full headers (on by default): uses Gmail's "Show original" so the sender checks see every header.
- Scan new emails automatically (off by default): scans unread emails in the inbox list without a click and notifies you when one looks like phishing.
The half-circle icon switches between dark and light.
The chart icon opens Insights:
- the list of your recent scans (subject, sender, verdict, scores), kept in your browser only;
- Right / Wrong on each scan, to record whether the verdict was correct;
- charts of your scans over time;
- Export as CSV or JSON, and Clear to delete the history;
- Report on a scan you marked Wrong (Gmail and Outlook scans of the last 7 days): sends that email, redacted, for review;
- Share my statistics: sends your history without subject, sender or text (day, source, verdict, scores, your review, the language), after a preview.
Export your history before removing the extension: removing it deletes everything it stored.
At the bottom of the settings: a link to the source code, and the credits for the threat-intelligence services, models, libraries and datasets PhishLens relies on.
