Using PhishLens in Outlook

Use PhishLens in Outlook on the web

PhishLens works on outlook.office.com, outlook.office365.com and outlook.live.com.

Scan an email

  1. Open the email in the reading pane.
  2. Click Scan with PhishLens, next to the subject.
  3. The verdict appears above the message, as in Gmail. See Read a verdict.

What is different from Gmail

  • Emails from your own organisation (same domain as your account) are treated as internal: their wording score weighs less, like a verified sender. A Google Safe Browsing hit on a link still forces "phishing".
  • Not available yet in Outlook: attachment scanning, full headers and automatic scanning. They need access to Microsoft's mail API and are on the roadmap. To check an Outlook attachment today, download it and drop it into the popup (see Scanning attachments and files).
