Export Tabs
To "Export a Tab" means to create a .json file which contains your selected favourite Tabs. This file may be shared with colleagues and friends so that they may import your Tabs.
To read about what constitutes a Tab, please read this article.
To read about how to Save a Tab, please read this article.
There are 3 ways to launch the Export function and all of them require you to be on a Salesforce Setup page.
| Where | What |
|---|---|
| Popup | Open the Popup and click on the Export button. |
| Context Menu | Right-click anywhere on the page (not on a link though); move your mouse to Again, Why Salesforce and click Export Tabs. |
| Keyboard Shortcut | Perform the keyboard shortcut linked to the Export function (default where supported: Alt+Shift+X; MacOS default where supported: Option+Shift+X). Chrome and Edge do not set a default shortcut for this command. |
For browsers other than Safari, if you have never used this function, the extension needs to be granted the downloads permission. A toast message will ask you to open the popup so that the permission can be requested. After you grant the permission, please launch the export function again.
You may also grant the permission from the Settings page
When the extension has the downloads permission available, launching the export function will generate the Export modal from which you can select the Tabs you want to export (or keep them all selected). If you export only some Tabs, pinned metadata is not preserved. To generate the .json file, click on the Export button and the download will start in a few seconds.
