Description

The purpose of this qwidget is to display a satellite model in 3D with attitude and position determined by selected telemetry data.

The qwidget layout has three views:

  • Main View (Default view)
  • Delete Menu
  • Settings Menu

Main View

On opening/adding the qwidget, this view is displayed. This viewing window has the following main elements

  • Satellite model and Background Image
  • Legends
  • Range Slider

Satellite model

  • The satellite model displayed in the main viewing window is a 3D Model of a cube. This 3D model exists as a json file stored in project file system.Only one satellite model can be viewed in the viewing window.
  • The viewing window displays the principal axis of the satellite model.
  • The background image on which the satellite model is placed is a concentric grid.

Legends

  • There are two legends, one on top left of the qwidget viewing window and the other one on top right of the qwidget viewing window.
  • Top left legend(hidden when no data is selected from the settings menu): Following content is displayed in this legend
    • The coordinate frame displayed is ECI.
    • The vehicle name of the values(attitude and position) selected in the settings menu.
    • The attitude quaternion coordinates(q1,q2,q3,qc) name and value. The values update every second and color of the values change according to the data state colors.
  • Top right legend: Following content is displayed in this legend
    • The color representation of the X,Y and Z axis of the satellite model is given
      • X axis is in red color
      • Y axis is in green color
      • Z axis is in blue color
  • The color representation of the sun and earth direction pointers.
    • Sun direction pointer is in orange color
    • Earth direction pointer is in dark blue color.

Range Slider

  • The satellite model can be zoomed in and out using the range slider which exists at bottom right corner of the viewing window.
  • Slider is default to center in the input range HTML element.
  • The model is zoomed in when slide left and zoomed out when slide right.

Delete Menu

This menu can be viewed by clicking the trash icon on the qwidget header. This menu has yes and no buttons. This menu is used to delete the qwidget from the dashboard.

Settings Menu

This menu can be viewed by clicking the settings button(cog icon) on the qwidget header. This menu is used to set the attitude and position telemetry values. These attitude and position values are selected from the data menu. This menu has the following main elements.

  • Input field with dropdown button to select attitude. The dropdown button opens a list show parameters options.

    • Show Parameters is used to view the selected parameters. On click on this option,a modal is opened showing the selected parameters. The user can view, drag and drop to change the order of the selected parameters. The changed order is effective only when saved using the save button in the modal. The selected parameter order if changed will not be saved if cancel button is clicked in the modal.
  • Input field with dropdown button to select position.

  • Save and Close buttons.

Attitude Selection

Input Description: The attitude quaternion coordinates are required as input for the execution of the 3D satellite model.Quaternions are mathematical operators that are used to rotate and stretch vectors. The quaternion coordinates are available from the data tree in data menu.

Input Value: q1, q2, q3, qc

Input Order: q1, q2, q3, qc

Required: This input field requires all the four quaternion coordinates.

The following section(Select Data) explains how to select the data from the data menu.

Select Data:

  • Click on the input field below select attitude label. This will open the data menu(left navigation menu) on the dashboard.
  • Traverse through the data tree in the data menu(or search using the search bar) and multi select the input value mentioned above in the order mentioned.[Note: Multiselect here refers to selection of all the required values one after the other.]

Position Selection

Input Description: The position coordinates are required as input for the execution of the 3D satellite model. These coordinate values help in displaying the position of the satellite model. The position coordinates are available from the data tree in data menu.

Input Value: x, y, z

Input Order: x, y, z

Required: This input field requires all the three position coordinates.

The following section(Select Data) explains how to select the data from the data menu.

Select Data:

  • Click on the input field below select position label. This will open the data menu(left navigation menu) on the dashboard.
  • Traverse through the data tree in the data menu(or search using the search bar) and multi select the input value mentioned above in the order mentioned.[Note: Multiselect here refers to selection of all the required values one after the other.]

Save

This is used to save the parameters set in the input fields. All the attitude and position values should be selected, applied and then saved. On successful save, the qwidget layout changes from settings menu to main view layout displaying the satellite model and its attitude values in the top left legend. On failure, alerts the user displaying the error message.

Close

This is used to close the settings menu and view the main layout. Any changes made before close are lost if not saved.
