Building the GUI
Before trying to build the Smart Bird Café make sure you have Qt libraries installed, as this is a Qt based GUI. To do this on a Raspberry Pi you can use the apt-get package manager and the following commands in terminal
apt-get install qtdeclaritive5-dev-tools
apt-get install libqwt-qt5-dev
apt-get install qt5-image-formats-plugin
This will install the necessary QT libraries for this GUI. Clone this repo onto your own machine, and you can start building the GUI.
Make sure the the other parts of the Bird Café are already built before trying to deploy this, as this code does not automatically build the other parts. If the other parts are not built the GUI can build, compile and deploy but it will not be functional. To see instructions, check these wiki pages:
After cloning this repository and building the other parts, to build the GUI go to the BirdCafe/gui directory in terminal and use the following commands
mkdir build
cd build
then run cmake and build
cmake..
make
Use the command
./smartbirdcafe
in the terminal (in the same directory) to run the GUI.
The GUI for The Smart Bird Café is now ready to go, and the pi can be moved to your feeding table to snap pictures of any birds that visit it.
To get the best pictures, make sure that the camera and ultrasonic sensor are pointing where you expect birds to stand.
