Recycle Bin

Each drive has its own recycle bin

DRIVE:\RECYCLED(Win 98)

DRIVE:\RECYCLER(Win 2k, xp, NT)

DRIVE:$RECYCLE.BIN(Win Visa, 7)

Starting with Win 2k, the each user has their own folder in the recycle bin. The name of the folder is their SID

Windows makes two files when a file is deleted

$R = The raw data of the file

$I = The metadata of the file
