Themes

A theme is a self-contained set of CSS, fonts, and images that gives your module its visual identity — matching how EncounterPlus itself renders a module, not just a generic Markdown look.

How it's chosen

MPX bundles two themes today. Create a project shows a picker when there's a real choice to make — with a single theme it would just be friction, so it only appears now that a second one exists.

Switching or resyncing

Run MPX: Select Project Theme, or use the Theme button in the Project section of the panel. Re-selecting the theme you're already on still does something useful: it resyncs your project's assets/ folder from the extension's own bundled copy — the only way to pick up a fix or improvement shipped in a later MPX update, since assets/ is otherwise only ever copied once, at creation time.

assets/css/custom.css and assets/js/custom.js are never touched by a resync — that's your own customization layer, seeded from the theme's template the first time and left alone after that.

Available themes

  • 5.5e — the default. Modern D&D 5.5e (2024 core rulebook) appearance.
  • PHB-24 — layout and styling inspired by the D&D 2024 Player's Handbook, sharing 5.5e's fonts and palette.

Next step

You've now covered the full authoring loop. Move on to Building and Importing to get your module into EncounterPlus.
