Getting Started

Requirements

  • Both packs included in the MCADDON
  • Experiments off
  • Cheats off

The add-on is designed to remain achievement friendly and uses stable APIs. Back up an important world before installing or updating any add-on.

Install

  1. Download Andys_Selective_Grief_Protection_0.1.7.mcaddon from CurseForge or the GitHub storefront.
  2. Open the file with Minecraft and wait for both packs to import.
  3. Edit the world and activate the Behavior Pack. Its paired Resource Pack should activate with it.
  4. Confirm both packs are version 0.1.7, then enter the world.

For Bedrock Dedicated Server installation and console controls, use Dedicated Server Console.

Craft the Protection Rune

Arrange the recipe as follows:

  • Top: Copper Ingot, Diamond, Copper Ingot
  • Middle: Amethyst Shard, Chiseled Deepslate, Amethyst Shard
  • Bottom: Copper Ingot, Redstone Block, Copper Ingot

Protection Rune crafting recipe

A crafted rune begins at Tier I with a maximum radius of 16.

Place and configure it

Place the rune on a stable block. The placing player becomes its owner.

Protection Rune without its grid

Crouch and interact with the placed rune to open its settings. No stick is required. Only its owner, an operator, or a trusted Manager can configure it. Use the menu to choose the radius, restrictions, explosion rules, trusted members, and visual effects.

The protected area is a square. Radius 16 covers 33 × 33 blocks. Its vertical range is fixed at 20 blocks below through 20 blocks above the rune, for 41 layers total.

PlayerGriefControl

Rename a vanilla stick exactly PlayerGriefControl in an anvil.

Creating PlayerGriefControl

Use the stick or interact with a block or entity while holding it. It opens personal notification and grid-preview preferences and lists every rune the player can manage. It does not grant permissions and is not needed when crouch-interacting with a nearby rune.

AdminGriefControl

Rename another vanilla stick exactly AdminGriefControl.

Creating AdminGriefControl

Only an actual world operator can open the admin menu. Merely holding a correctly named stick never grants operator access.

Breaking and moving a rune

Only the owner or an operator can break the rune. Breaking it deletes the stored protection record and drops a fresh Tier I rune. Rename, tier, radius, members, and configuration do not travel with the dropped item.
