Features and configuration

Colors

All 16 standard dyes are supported. The leather center takes the color while the wooden border keeps its vanilla look, so dyed frames still read as item frames in a build instead of as colored blocks.

Glow variants get a brighter, color-matched center so they stay legible when lit.

What stays vanilla

Dyed frames are backed by real item frames, so everything you expect still works:

  • inserting and removing displayed items
  • rotating the displayed item
  • maps, including large map walls
  • comparator output
  • displayed items dropping when the frame is broken
  • Glow Item Frame rendering

Placement

Walls, floors, and ceilings are all supported, and the dyed panel is visible from every angle on each of them.

DyeFrameSettings

A per-frame settings tool. It works on any placed frame, including plain vanilla ones.

  1. Rename a normal Stick to DyeFrameSettings in an anvil.
  2. Hold the renamed stick and interact with a placed frame.
  3. Set the options for that individual frame.

Lock displayed-item rotation stops use-clicks from turning the displayed item. Useful once a display wall is arranged the way you want it.

Show name while looking at frame puts the frame's label in your action bar while you look directly at it from within eight blocks.

Display name sets an optional custom label, up to 80 characters. Leave it empty to use the displayed item's own name.

Each frame keeps its own settings, and they persist across sessions.

Performance

A dyed or configured frame is a native frame plus one lightweight visual marker, so it costs slightly more than an untouched vanilla frame. On lower-powered devices, Realms, and busy servers, build very dense display walls gradually rather than all at once.
